Wayward infernal affairs

Warning: Spoilers
For a small city to suffer terrorist act, Wayward Pines keeps the situation relatively under control even though cracks begin to show underneath. There's a lot of rapid investigations this episode, making it one of the faster paced one yet. It still covers plenty of characters in short amount of span, while balancing the plot progression pretty well.

Ethan remains vigilant in his search, but now that his son is involved, he's more motivated. The ordeal resonates in more personal level, it does leaning towards police drama but Matt Dillon is still decent in his delivery. Meanwhile, Pilcher senses that there's been a leak on his side, rightfully so since activities such as bomb threat shouldn't go unnoticed in highly monitored city.

Credit goes to Melissa Leo, her character has seen much development beyond the original nurse persona and now she displays apt discretion and surprising compassion. The sympathy is not shared with Pilcher who seems to find opposition in his effort. This might result in him choosing sterner, almost oppressive method to deal with the situation.

The Burkes are consistently good, Ben looks more natural in the family environment. The brainwashing angle is getting tiresome though, it has become a bit repetitive. Another strong performance comes from Shannyn Sossamon. Be it the good casting or appropriate material, she fits the role of protective mother nicely. She has fewer scenes than earlier in the season, but still delivering convincing act.

Despite dealing with the aftermath of an attack, the cinematography doesn't change into bleaker tone. In fact, most of the scenes here are displayed in well-lit scenery. It gives an expanded view of the city and its surroundings, while the closing sequence creates fine build up as the series is heading towards its finale.
