Good Look at the Money in Texas

The Business of the Chain Saw: An Interview with Production Manager Ron Bozman (2008)

*** (out of 4)

Good documentary focusing on Ron Bozman's involvement in the Tobe Hooper classic THE Texas CHAIN SAW MASSACRE. The sixteen-minute interview discussing more of the business side of the filmmaking and what's most fascinating happens towards the end when the actual money is discussed. Bozman talks about the companies that were interested in distributing the film and then he goes into details on how the guys turned out to be involved with the Mafia and no one was seeing their money. From here we learn about the various legal issues over the years and the, in his words, honest mistake, which upset so many of the cast and crew who were expecting more money. For the most part this is a good documentary that fans should enjoy, although there's no question that the quality is a bit lower than you'd typical expect. Still, there are some fascinating stories here that make it worth viewing.
