"Devil in the Detail" is praised as one of the wildest love triangles ever to be seen by its own publisher. To make it clear right from the beginning, that's a lie. There is a love triangle and it's not even bad but it's far from being somewhere near the top. This was my first experience with a film from Ghana though and I have to say that all in all I was rather positive about the outcome.
We get to learn the story of a married couple that both cheat on each other without the other one's knowledge. As you can already see from this, the plot is a rather classic one in dramas, as the whole movie is not a masterpiece of innovation. If you take out the superlatives though and just see it as a normal drama the film has its strengths though. The producers managed to create an environment that is both plausible and uncomfortable, as it suits a plot like this one. Some of the twists seem a bit too wanted, while others fit in nicely and help making this a solid film, one like I could imagine seeing as a television movie here in Germany.
To draw a conclusion, "Devil in the detail" is by no means a bad movie. If you like to see a movie about how even an otherwise lucky marriage can be set into serious trouble by a chain of unpleasant events, go ahead and give this a try. Just don't expect it to be a life-changing cinematic experience but a beautiful average film.
