Inspector Borowski – Borowski and the Sea
Tweekums29 November 2016
Warning: Spoilers
As this episode opens we see a man being drowned in a swimming pool; this isn't the case that is going to be investigated though. That murder took place in New Zealand and had been written off as a swimming accident; it was however witnessed on Skype by a German man Jens Adam, a German who works for MAREX, a company hoping to mine rare earth minerals off the New Zealand coast. Jens is convinced that he is in danger and prepares a file to give to the police. Strangely he leaves this in his car and goes to attend a company function on a boat. As he stands on the deck a shot is heard from the shore and he tumbles into the sea. Borowski and Brandt are soon on the case and inevitably they quickly believe that MAREX employees were involved; there are some anomalies with the case; why was there no blood at the scene; where is Jens' body; why did he shave his beard off before going out and why did he attend the event if he thought his employers wanted him dead? As the case continues more questions are raised and more suspects emerge.

This was an intriguing mystery with some interesting twists along the way. The boss of the MAREX company and her 'trouble-shooter' were suitably menacing; it was clear from the start that they were involved in the murder in New Zealand and are very keen to get their hands on whatever evidence Jens had hidden away… it is not quite so obvious that they were involved in the shooting, In fact at one point somebody else confesses although Borowski isn't convinced. There are some good tense moments nicely spread through the episode. As expected the cast, both regulars and guests, do an impressive job. Overall a solid episode that fans of 'Inspector Borowski' should enjoy.
