Every week, IndieWire asks a select handful of TV critics two questions and publishes the results on Tuesday. (The answer to the second, “What is the best show currently on TV?” can be found at the end of this post.)
This week’s question: Which is your favorite scripted TV show about sports? Old and current shows are fair game.

I was a big fan of the Freeform show “Make It or Break It,” about the lives of a group of elite gymnasts working toward their dream of competing in the Olympics. Even typing that sentence, I know how hokey it sounds, and yes, it touched on all the clichés about women’s gymnastics – eating disorders, overburdened parents, inappropriate relationships with coaches – but you know what, all those things bubble up in the real sport with depressing regularity.

Rob Lowe‘s vacation from NBC may not last that long, after all.
The Parks and Recreation actor will lead a comedy pilot about a newly sober narcissist whose decision to be a good parent doesn’t come until his kids are teens, our sister site Deadline reports.
The potential NBC comedy follows Lowe’s character, who dries out and returns to his hometown to issue mea culpas to his son and daughter, as well as to his ex-wife and her new family.
The part was written for the West Wing vet, who partnered with the project’s writers/executive...

With the first film adaptation of Veronica Roth’s Divergent book series having earned over $267 million at the box office since March, it comes as no surprise that the sequel – Insurgent – is already in production in Atlanta. Divergent stars Shailene Woodley and Theo James return, along with Jai Courtney, Kate Winslet, Ansel Elgort, Miles Teller and Zoe Kravitz. That list of talent will now be joined by Rosa Salazar – previously of Parenthood fame – as she continues to stage her own insurgency onto the big screen.
Following on from the setting and events of Divergent – in which citizens are divided into groups based on aspects of their personality, values and virtues – Insurgent sees Woodley and James become fugitives intent on uncovering the truth about their families, and consequently, the implications of that truth on their current lives. The adapted script is by Akiva Goldsman and Brian Duffield, with Robert Schwentke at the helm.

Todd Holland and Karey Nixon Burke’s Dark Toy Entertainment is setting up shop at ABC Studios with a two-year overall deal. The duo launched their company four years ago and had been based at Universal TV with two back-to-back overall deals. The move to ABC Studios stems from Dark Toy’s collaboration with the studio on the NBC comedy pilot The Pro starring Rob Lowe and Rob Riggle and directed by Holland. The project was set up as a co-production between ABC Studios, where the project’s writers, Pete Huyck and Alex Gregory, are based, and Universal TV, where Lowe and Dark Toy were under deals. “We had a fantastic experience working with them on The Pro and are so excited to work with them developing both comedy and drama projects for the studio,” ABC Studios topper Patrick Moran said. At Uni TV, Dark Toy produced comedy series Go On and Free Agents.
