Often times on this show, you sort of feel like you have to take sides when it comes to situations. Be it between main characters, reoccurring, or guest. And just when you feel like you firmly are on someone's side, a character reminds you that rarely is anything on this show simply black and white. Be it Matthew's reasons behind cat fishing Emmett, Kathryn's issues with Sarah Lazar, and many other topics gone over in the episode.

Topic 1: A Betrayal of Trust – Bay & Regina

Well, it seems rather than dragging it out, Bay breaks up with Tank this episode, though under the guise that she simply wants to be friends for their relationship isn't fun anymore. Which, as is understandable, upsets him for he just left his whole world for her and now she pulls this. What makes things worse though is he tries to figure out why Bay broke up with him and ends up at the Kennish house, and gets confronted by John. With this, Tank learns about Bay taking the morning after pill and Bay looks so embarrassed when Tank faces her about this. Making me think that while Bay and Emmett maybe on better terms, who knows if all this maybe too much for Bay to want to start things up again. After all, their relationship was tainted already with him cheating on her with Simone, but now she brought someone into their mess as well, and arguably she left Tank with more to deal with than Emmett left her to deal with post-cheating. Since, Bay only lost her trust and dignity, Tank meanwhile lost his teammates, his room, and probably many friends.

As for Regina, while Angelo goes from being protective to borderline invasive, you can see that his old trust issues are eventually going to flare up. Especially with Regina's cousin, the one whose house she designed for free, spreading rumors about Regina and Wes messing around. Something which Angelo may not believe now, but as Regina runs about to make sure her work with Wes is handled, including now spending extra time with Wes to learn how to use a gun to protect herself, you can already foresee Angelo pitching a fit sooner or later.

Topic 2: Life is Unfair – Kathryn & Daphne

With Kathryn getting magazine covers, and doing photo-shoots, it seems the eve of her book release is nigh. But, one thing stands in her way: Sarah Lazar. For, you see, this woman who beat Kathryn to her switched book, and revealed her miscarriage, is trying her hardest to stop Kathryn from publishing this character "Tara Mazar" who obviously is her. Said character is one of the book's villains, who tried to sleep with Kathryn's husband, as well as others, and Sarah takes offense to this character for she has worked hard to fight against these rumors. But Kathryn doesn't care. That is until Regina talks about how she can relate to Sarah, due to her situation, and how the easiest way to take a successful woman down is to call her a slut. So Kathryn tries to talk her editor into making Tara more three dimensional, but her editor is fine with the evil slut character. Thus leaving Kathryn forced to wait for the legal team to battle things out with Sarah and let the chips fall where they may. Which likely may mean revenge and, considering all Daphne and Bay have done, I doubt it would be hard for Sarah not to execute an impeccable backlash.

Speaking of Daphne, Dr. J has given her a promotion to being his assistant, which doesn't sit right with Campbell at all. After all, he has been there longer, is more experienced, and yet Daphne gets this prominent position made for her. And, be it because they are dating or otherwise, thankfully there are no accusations on whether it is because Campbell is handicapped, or maybe something Daphne did besides hint and ask for a job. However, when Campbell asks about getting a job, he ends up getting one, but it's across town. Making me wonder if both he and Tank may slowly get phased out as the season goes on.

Topic 3: The Truth Behind the Matter – Emmett

So, as we know Emmett and Matthew had a very intimate cat fishing experience and Emmett has even sent "revealing" pictures of himself. This is a huge problem for him and Bay, since he can't tell anyone else due to sheer embarrassment. But, question is, how can they get rid of Matthew's blackmail material? Well, by using Melody's access to everyone's locker combination, and then breaking into Matthew's locker of course!

In the process though, they discover something: Matthew has a serious crush on Emmett. He has dozens of pictures of Emmett, and then there is this apology letter where he tries to justify his actions by saying their correspondence proves the two of them could have something real, and all this naturally freaks out Bay and Emmett. Yet, at the same time, it does balance things out. So while Bay does get caught putting Matthew's stuff back, she lets Matthew know what they found which means mutually assured destruction. Well, until Natalie convinces Bay, and Emmett through Bay, to just leave the situation as is. For while she recognizes Matthew did something messed up, outing him wouldn't make things better since, he isn't comfortable in his sexuality, and who knows what could happen if they forced him to be put out there. Thus leading to Emmett and Matthew having a real truce. Which makes it seem the two of them are cool for now, yet you can tell Matthew is still troubled by Emmett knowing about his crush.
