A surprising combination
priscillalouzada18 February 2015
I love time travel stories. The sci-fi thing, the complications, the paradox... This series is a time travel and a romantic comedy.

The time traveling is used to make the main character confused about her future. She realizes she can change her future when she comes back on the day of her wedding. Then she has to make choices and she thinks a lot about them. She wonders about fate and doesn't want to make any damage in other people's futures as well. She is older but she doesn't know how to avoid the problems that made her life a mess.

The other characters are nice and likable. The 90s makes us nostalgic and the quotations about movies, fashion and pop culture are funny.

Each episode is showing so far one change at a time. I guess the love triangle will be dragged more. I hope this won't ruin the story.

fine time-traveling single-gal dramedy
SnoopyStyle27 August 2016
Warning: Spoilers
It's 2015 and Becca Brady (Laura Ramsey) is getting married a second time. Her first marriage to Sean Reeves disintegrated. She hasn't talked to her best friend Lolly Lavigne (Sarah Goldberg) in ten years after a fight. Her new groom is nice childhood friend Andy Kelly although she feels little heat. She had wasted her life in a horrible job. Her brother Jamie is a mess. There's her annoying cousin Phoebe. Her parents are divorced. Her father has a young newly-pregnant second wife. Something happens in an elevator and she finds herself waking up in 1995 on the eve of her first wedding.

This is a functional time-traveling premise. It is a romantic dramedy rather than a sci-fi show. Laura Ramsey is a functional single gal lead. There is a really nice complicated girls' friendship. It tries to be a quirky comedy at the beginning. There is good romantic drama that builds up over time. The girl does leave a trail of men behind her. It's full of 90s music for nostalgia. It's a likable half hour show that is worthy of a renewal but got canceled after 10 episodes.

Refreshing, quirky and fun!

I saw the pilot today and am so glad there is a new show that can hold my interest. It moves along at a good pace and has likable characters. I don't watch any TV series, but I may make an exception for this one. Don't we all wish we got a "do over?" This show has some roller coaster turns that makes you think about the choices you have made and what you might do if you had another shot. I hope this show has a good run and finds an audience that keeps it going. I have seen a lot of shows come and go and would love to see how this one develops. Check it out if you haven't seen it. Very entertaining and light hearted, but makes you think about your own life.

Really liking this show
SilverLexiGirl12 February 2015
Definitely a fun show for those of us who were teens or young adults during the 90s. The 90s flashback music, clothing, pop culture references, and even the attitudes of that era make this show rich with nostalgia and lots of fun. Since this show is about going back in time, there is of course lots of humor surrounding all that has changed so much in the last 20 years, like cell phones and the internet. There is also some other great humor as well, especially with characters Lolly and Jamie. Despite the bad reviews, I actually think this show is cleverly written, entertaining and seems to get better with every episode. I don't love the choice of actress for the main character Becca (her face isn't very expressive) but I get why she was chosen: her looks and the fact that her age is hard to pinpoint which makes it easier for the audience to accept her as both a 40 year old and a woman in her early 20s. Overall, i hope Hindsight will run for a while. It's the first new show in a long time that I've actually been interested in. Not sure where the writers are going with the story or how they intend to wrap up what her time travel journey has done for her, but I'm really enjoying how Becca's choices keep changing things from her past, even in the smallest of ways. Very cool.

Very Good Show to watch - funny, witty and brainless
Quakecanada11 February 2015
I hope people don't come to read this post and think to themselves, how can a person give a 10 out of 10 but put brainless in the subject. Well, lets be clear, if I wanted to watch The Fall or the Game of Thrones I wouldn't be in the VH1 teenage section of programming. This show takes you back in time, the characters are well written, the plot is fun and it brings the viewer back in his or her own past with a fun flavour of easy story. Not cheesy, like so many shows thing views want, but just plain fun. This show is a must watch. You will know after the second episode if its for you because the first two were a hit for me. BTW, to the young actress -- great job and keep doing these types of shows. My wife and I love to watch them and giggle and remember what its like to be young, free and full of life !!!

Great for 90's nostalgia cravings.
Lovedtodeth-231-5810825 February 2015
Everything about this series so far has been amazing. If you love the the 90's this is a great throwback series with an entertaining plot. I especially love the 90's hits they play. I was only 11 years young when the year 2000 hit but I wish I could have fully experienced it like the main character Becca who rocks her oh so cute leather jacket.

Honesty the other review saying this is a rip off of some show called "Being Erica" I could care less since I've never seen it and have no interest to. I'm glad they made this show because they had a great idea and ran with it.

I'm intrigued with every aspect of this show and hope to continue being that way.

Finally!!
thatgirlfromthatband29 March 2015
Here's to the first "chick show" in forever that is aimed at the ones hanging on the fringe. This show isn't about the cheerleaders, the prom queens or the popular girls. This is one of the most amazing shows I have ever seen. I have DVR'd all of the episodes and I watch them in eager anticipation for the new ones. The characters are amazing, the story is a modern day fairy tale gone array and the songs pull you back to "I remember when".

Becca has locked herself into this precarious balancing act where she feels that she is to blame for the bad and silently praised (even if in her own mind) for the good. Even though she keeps setting these horrid events into action with her odd behaviors and attempt to change "everything". Her best-friend Lolly is the picture of the weird girl who is too loud, too unpredictable and too "out there" for the comfort of others.

(I can say that these two truly should make it through and their friendship should persevere through it all and that could be the one triumph of this, but I'm not a writer.)

Late Night Binge Ends in Disappointment
rnyqcu23 January 2021
The premise of this series has potential. The actors are committed and the cast is talented. It's fun looking back at the 90's.

The biggest problem is that the very attractive and charming protagonist has the maturity of a tween (despite having already experienced her 20's and the wealth of experience a marriage and career should bring).

She makes such epic horrible decisions - that cost the people who are supposed to be important to her - that it becomes difficult to care about the outcome.

so you go back in time and...
omeboy4878 March 2015
you are in love with your ex hubby, and he with you. BUT wait, oh my goodness, you are still in love with your hubby to be, and he with you. Also, your best friend loves your brother and he loves her. HOWEVER, shoot, she can't be with him, so she is confused and hooks up with ANOTHER guy. HOLD ON, NO, you might have a mutual connection with THIS NEW guy too! Time traveling and second chances! PHEW!

that's about it. really. this whole show is about her going back in time for no reason at all. She sees it as a second chance to change things around, but then she wants to keep things the same, then every guy on the show wants to hook up with her or marry her.

"Being Erica", but glammed up and flighty.
MarkOakleyComics15 January 2015
This is a well-produced piece of shiny nonsense.

Sorry. I know there are jobs at stake in TV production land, but if you're involved with this project, you're making narcissistic brain candy and should perhaps take a moment to consider seeking more fulfilling employment.

Because while I love time travel stories, this one is tailor-made for nitwits. If it goes long, you will be dedicating several years of your life to increasing the net stupidity of American culture.

Clearly, the Canadian show "Being Erica" upon which "Hindsight" was modeled, was carefully watched by the executives. Anybody familiar with the former will immediately notice all the similarities and character archetypes. Everything from the coffee-getter publishing job, the overbearing gayish boss, the irresponsible drinking buddy girlfriend, the troubled but beloved brother, the mysterious time doctor type.., and yet, it was the pointless surface patterns which were borrowed by the producers here, while all of the insight and cleverness of "Being Erica" has been binned. -Either deliberately because "Hindsight" is targeting idiots, or through sheer foolishness because whoever is in charge simply doesn't get it.

My main gripe: The main character, Becca, is mentally in her early 40's but has little to show for that much living. She still acts like an impulsive child-woman. She is in fact not at all out of place in the world of 23 year-olds. -Petty, spoiled American Princess 23 year-olds, to be clear. There are a precious few flashes of maturity spotted here and there, but they feel shallow and deliberately inserted because, "She'd know stuff, right?"

Where "Being Erica" focused on improving one's life through personal, guided introspection and experimentation, (based on a blend of therapeutic behavioral psychology and various enlightened philosophies), this show appears to have no point whatsoever.

What purpose is there in magically giving a second chance to this character? And come to think of it... What need for a second chance did Becca even have? Where "Being Erica" begins with the main character waking up in a hospital ward after having hit rock bottom, Becca...

-In the present, Becca has no material needs, she's got a good job she's worked her way up the ranks of... Money, success, health (and 23 year-old looks, apparently) and a worthy partner who loves her. The big problem she faces appears to be that she just doesn't feel that Lovin' Feelin' quite enough when she's with her husband to be.

News Flash lady: You can fix that. Don't marry him. You've got endless life advantages most Americans can only dream of at your disposal and the world stretching out in front of you. The only thing you are apparently missing is a brain.

And while that could easily serve as the center point around which to revolve this story, I can't see any hope of this time travel excursion having been set into action as an attempt to address that deficit. Self-actualization and spiritual growth don't appear to be on the menu.

It's a poor little princess tale with no lessons in the offing and a bunch of unsatisfying iPhone jokes.

If you'd like to watch something which doesn't make you want to bark at the main characters, "Being Erica" is the opposite pill in every way; fun, uplifting, charming and smart.

I gave "Hindsight" a 4/10 because it at least *looks* pretty and the acting, editing and story structure are competent for what it is.

Viral Marketing! Really? Viral Marketing!
LouieInLove11 April 2015
Warning: Spoilers
OK! All TV Shows must have central characters that inspire empathy from the audience; Hindsight does not.

The most likable characters are Paige & ironically, Melanie. The likability of Melanie is ironic due to her position within the story, that of the over-bearing & over-possessive girlfriend. However she is one of only a few characters you truly feel empathy for, as she has to live in this world surrounded by pricks.

Becca (the lead) is a person of such little imagination that she basically lives all her mistakes over again. She's such a prick, that given a re-run, she does exactly the same things with the same people. She's such a prick that she uses her knowledge of the future to steal the idea of viral marketing! Viral marketing! She has all this knowledge of the future & the one idea she steals is viral marketing! I can't add anything to this.

The show could have been a really fun & romantic; makes you wonder if the writers are as awful as the people they create.

So, it's Being Erica, basically... Only worse
L-dems3 September 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This is such a bad show. "Hi, I am a horrible person who thinks she needs a re do on her life for no apparent reason other than I am a self absorbed, self obsessed person. I think I am so amazing and for some reason everyone loves me, but I screw up everyone's lives including my own. I have no self control and spend my entire "second chance" pontificating about how everyone else should live their lives while all the while, destroying it but somehow... EVERYONE STILL THINKS I AM AMAZING." DON'T BOTHER WITH THIS SHOW. I legit only watched this to see if the men get happy endings, since she ruins all the men she touches.

Go back in time and wish I didn't watch
aleeward18 July 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Its 2020 and I saw that this came out in 2015. Reading the blurb I thought that it sounds good and maybe I missed a gem. However just 30 mins into the pilot I could see why I've never heard of it.

So the main character is due to get married for a second time and feeling some regrets she wishes in her mind that she could go back in time to put right some life decisions. She falls unconscious in a lift and when she wakes up she is magically transported back to 1995 on the day before her first wedding.

Realising that she has gone back in time and has memories of everything that has happened, instead of investing in property, placing bets or thinking of other ways to corner the financial world, she runs to her best friend who is quirky enough to believe her.

From then on I knew that this would be a painful watch and could see why it never saw past one season.

Awful

Watching Hindsight is like watching a 40mins advert for emptiness. the show is never funny or dramatic enough, it just settles for a monotonous tone, with every other line a terrible reference. the only 90's sensibility the show has is the low quality that some of that decades programming had. Good grief!
Kareneo25 August 2015
Oh dear god, save me from TV series where I am so accustomed to how the cookie-cutter story goes that I can say each line a few seconds before the actors do. Blaaaaaaaaahh! I always get a bit over-excited when any new show comes along that has a bit of a Sci Fi edge, but, nahhh, not so much with this one. Other than she goes back to the day of her first marriage years before, but the waffling on about feelings and whiny regrets and this-and-that just made me want to pluck mine ears out of mine own head. If you are very young and un-jaded you may get a kick out of it - and good luck to you! But if you have seen every sci fi show ever, you will want to pass it by due to outrageous predictability and resultant boringness. Of course, the actors are pretty/handsome/competent, and the scriptwriters know how to construct a scene, but it's just extremely 'done before'. Half a star for the valiant time and effort of all who worked on it.

Sci Fi or Soap Opera?
dleavitt-805-8387330 November 2016
Warning: Spoilers
This show caught my attention as a time travel tome. Everyone has had the fantasy about what you would do if you could go back. I often think about the stock market or sports betting. Maybe warn the president about 9-11 or try to save people from other disasters. I think I would try to "invent" Facebook or "Amazon" of "Windows" and become a billionaire, but that would be stealing in a way. I have made it now to episode 5 of "Hindsight" and so far they have only written a soap opera about really dumb 20 somethings. The characters scream all of the time when the see their friends in bars or they get free tickets to the REM concert. The writers of this show clearly missed it. I wish I could go back in time and tell myself not to watch this show.

😶
L-dems2 September 2020
Warning: Spoilers
So, I started watching this show this year (2020), saw it was an other show that ran 1 season but decided to give it a go anyways. Well... That was a bad idea. This show is so stupid. It has a really good base, but went no where. As the episodes progress, it only gets worse. This show is basically about a lady who doesn't appreciate the life she has, goes back and ruins more.lives: including her own.
