- Scarlett's breakdown is driving everyone to point fingers at who might be responsible for her condition. Deacon is blaming Rayna for pushing her too fast, Rayna is blaming Juliette for forcing her on stage and Beverly thinks Rayna is only interested in seeing her label succeed. It always feels like everyone has an axe to grind with Juliette, so she turns to Avery, only to find him preoccupied with Scarlett. During her moment of weakness, she is driven right into the hands of her nemesis. Meanwhile, Layla tries to convince Will to join her in a reality show.—Anonymous

We pick up where we left off with Scarlett collapsing onstage. Avery and another band member carry her offstage. The tour doctors rushes in. Juliette goes into crisis mode figuring out she needs to go on early and to tamp down the press. Beverly shows up freaked out.
Rayna and Deacon head to the airport to meet Scarlett, coming in on Juliette's plane. He says he told her she wasn't equipped to do this tour, blaming her for pushing Scarlett. Rayna says all she did was give her the opportunities she wanted and said she could walk away. Deacon says Rayna should've called the shots.
Gunnar unveils the house he bought to Zoey but says it puts no pressure on them. She says she feels it. He says he loves her and the house is for him but she should do whatever she wants. She's happy for him. She gets a call from Avery on Juliette's plane about Scarlett. Juliette overhears this. Glenn says Rayna is waiting on the tarmac and Juliette says "The hits just keep on coming."
Will rehearses. Layla arrives with an officious woman in tow, Gina Romano. She's there to convince them to do a reality show together.
The plane lands and Avery and Deacon help Scarlett into a wheelchair. Beverly is agitated and says she doesn't want Deacon swooping in like a white knight when she's got it under control. Rayna tells them they will take good care of her, take her to a clinic, and keep her away from the press. Beverly, Rayna, and Avery ride with Scarlett. Deacon follows. Rayna tells Juliette to go home.
Will says he doesn't have time for a show and it sounds awful. But the producer gives him the hard sell on the show having heart and is not looking to exploit them and won't make them uncomfortable. Will says he has to think about it. She tells him not to think too long because they might have to go with someone else.
Beverly tells the doctors that this is not normal exhaustion but a psychotic break and there is family history including her own.
Bucky and Rayna go over her commitments for the album launch including rehearsals and interviews and decide not to cancel since they're so close to the date. The doctor tell her she's stable but they need to evaluate her fully. Bucky wants her to do PR prep for this but Rayna says she's downplaying it until they no more. Beverly confronts Rayna and says she's more concerned about her image than her family or Scarlett. Rayna says she knows she has a complicated relationship with Deacon and Scarlett but Beverly doesn't know Rayna and she needs to find someone else to tangle with.
Juliette is grousing to Glen and her assistant about being shooed away from the Scarlett situation. Glen tries to change the subject. But Juliette keeps complaining about Scarlett and how it was her stage she collapsed on and her boyfriend she was clinging to. Avery comes home and says he needs a shower and sleep. Juliette says Scarlett should be talking to her since she's the one who knows about crazy mothers.
At the clinic, Scarlett surfaces and Beverly says she had a breakdown just like she did. Scarlett is dazed and confused and moans and starts fighting the constraints.
Deacon sits in the clinic and talks to Rayna, who asks if he's noticed her drinking or taking pills. He thinks she's blaming him and he says she's been jumpy since Liam and that was Rayna's idea. Scarlett breaks free and runs into front lawn saying she's not crazy, not making a great case for herself. Rayna tries to calm her down. Scarlett says she only had a few drinks and the prescription drugs are like caffeine pills and she's not addicted and she just wants to get back to work. Rayna wants her to go back in for 24 hours and then they'll talk. She brings her back in. Beverly tries to get to her and Deacon pulls her off.
Layla and Will argue about the reality show. Will and Zoe enter and tell them about Scarlett and try to figure out what to do next.
Deacon tries to talk to Scarlett and she complains about Beverly. He says that's old news and he wants to talk about the booze and pills. She insists there is nothing wrong with her.
Zoe is upset that she can't be there for Scarlett. She wonders if she and Gunnar should go over. He's got a meeting with Jeff. Zoe wonders why he's being so cold. He says he's not but that Scarlett made it clear that he's not welcome in her life right now.
Juliette goes to see Scarlett who is not having any of her interest in her or her attempts to empathize. Scarlett blames Juliette for this happening and says it's no big deal since she froze for a second and that was all. Juliette tries to explain what really happened but Scarlett doesn't want to hear it. Juliette bumps into Rayna on her way out who wants to know why Juliette pushed her onstage. Juliette snits that yes this is all her fault and she is the world's biggest jackass and wonders if Rayna's happy now.
Deacon and Beverly start to talk and it turns into an insane family blow up uncovering old wounds of how Deacon bolted for Nashville leaving Beverly alone with their abusive and neglectful parents. He says if he hadn't left there wouldn't have been anyone to pay for Scarlett to go to Ole Miss or for Beverly when she needed help. She retorts she wouldn't have needed help if he hadn't left her. It devolves into shouting and im calling her an angry narcissistic manic mess and saying her problems are her own fault and not his and she replies that that's better than being a pathetic drunk like your daddy. Ouch.
Gunnar plays golf with Jeff. He wants to come Gunnar to come join the new Edgehhill publishing company. Gunnar points out that Edgehill isn't doing so well since Rayna and Juliette left. Jeff admits that he's in a tight spot. But he says his artists top the charts which could be very lucrative for Gunnar and for good measure calls his "ex-partner" "loony." Gunnar says Scarlett has more talent than most can dream about and he owes her everything and Jeff just called her loony so he tells him to take his deal and shove it.
Rayna arrives for her radio interview still unsure what to say about Scarlett.
A cooler-headed Beverly and Deacon reconvene. He apologizes that she blames him for her life but says it's not about them anymore it's about Scarlett and giving her unconditional love, no matter what. He tells her it's going to be okay.
Scarlett finally watches the video and realizes it was a full-blown meltdown. Zoe shows up. Scarlett says she can't believe she came. Zoe says she can't believe she thought she wouldn't. Scarlett cries and accepts her support.
Juliette grouses to Avery that it's not like she forced Scarlett onstage. Avery points out that Juliette told her "that's how it works," and since Scarlett is green she probably didn't think she had a choice. Juliette grouses that he's taking her side. He says he's not taking sides he just needs some sleep. She tries to sex them both into a better mood but he puts her off. She gets angry and says he never cared that Charlie kissed her and now won't sleep with her. He points out that he never said that and wonders if she was trying to make him jealous and wonders why she's acting like a crazy person about Scarlett. She gets angrier. He leaves.
During Rayna's interview the deejay tries to lure her into conversation about Deacon and Maddie and Scarlett and she punts gracefully on both and puts the spotlight back on her record launch. Off the air he says she should capitalizes on the Scarlett situation. She says she's not going to go for the tabloid tragedy angle. He says it keeps the business running.
Scarlett recounts what she remembers from the stage to Zoe but it's mostly fuzzy. The video didn't help jog her memory and she worries she is losing it. Zoe says she's just overwhelmed. Beverly arrives. Zoe asks what she wants to do. Scarlett says it's okay. Beverly gives her a hug and a kiss and tells her how much she loves her. She says she's been through the exact same thing and if she stays she can get all the help she needs and it runs in the family and it's not her fault.
Will does a meet and greet. Jeff tells him not to do a reality show and for obvious reasons, he makes it clear he knows that Will is gay without saying it explicitly because he says he wants "plausible deniability."
Juliette goes to Avery's and apologizes for being a brat and says she was just tired. He's not there.
Gunnar watches Scarlett's meltdown video. He picks up pen and paper.
Deacon meets Rayna at the clinic. He apologizes for blaming Rayna for all of this. She says she was trying to protect her from all of the pain the business can bring. She says she doesn't know what she's going to do about this label but does know that Scarlett is family.
Gunnar sings his Scarlett-inspired song. Zoe comes out. He asks if Scarlett is going to be okay. She says she doesn't know
Juliette wakes up after dozing off at Avery's and he's still not home.
Scarlett wakes up in the clinic and Avery is there, sleeping on a chair in her room. He says the last few days have been kind of rough. She calls that the understatement of the year. He asks how she's feeling. She says she isn't sure. She wonders why he's there. He says he figured a friendly face wouldn't be a bad thing. She thanks him for always being there for her and says he was her first love and she'll probably always love him best. He tells her she's got a permanent place in his heart. Of course, Juliette is listening outside the door.
Rayna visits Scarlett at the clinic. She asks Scarlett to think about what will make her happy not make Rayna happy and tells her to answer honestly, "do you want this?" She says she doesn't and doesn't know what she wants. She apologizes for wasting Rayna's time. Rayna says she has a great future ahead of her it's just going to be going down a different road and releases her from her contract.
Juliette gets dressed up fancy and hits the BMI party ready to get drunk.
Scarlett signs out of the clinic and asks Deacon to drive her home. Beverly arrives and tries to convince her to stay. Scarlett says that Beverly blames everybody else for everything but she's not going to stay here and pretend she has no choice. She says she has choices and she's leaving. Beverly says she's moving to Nashville to help. Scarlett tells her she loves her but she wants her to go home.
Gunnar and Zoe tell Layla and Will about the new house at the BMI party. Gunnar says it's about time Layla and Will had their own place. Layla says that will be a great place to shoot the show.
Rayna rehearses with her band.
Scarlett tells Deacon she's stepping away from the business and she doesn't want to be a star. She says she doesn't know how she got to her breaking point but she did it to herself.
Jeff sees Layla and Will talking about the reality show. Will sees him looking on and makes a big gesture of saying he's into the show and giving her a big kiss. Jeff rolls his eyes. Gunnar then walks by and shines him. He rolls his eyes again.
Avery heads to Juliette's. She's not home.
Jeff drinks with Juliette and says "Sometimes I really hate this town." She replies, "Sometimes I really hate everything." So they go into the bathroom and have hate sex. Gunnar notices them stumbling out of the bathroom and readjusting their clothes.
At Rayna's rehearsal Bucky shows up to talk about releasing Scarlett. She ruefully notes that Highway 65 is now going to live or die on her album.
