- TriviaWhile Catherine (Sarah Lancashire) visits the cemetery to see her daughter's grave, Ryan (Rhys Connah) remarks about all the pens left at another grave, which is briefly seen. This is the grave of Sylvia Plath (Hughes), the American poet and writer, who was buried there, near the graves of her husband's parents, after her suicide in London in 1963. The cemetery is in the churchyard of the Church of St. Thomas the Apostle, in Heptonstall, West Yorkshire. Her grave has become a shrine to foreign visitors, who leave gifts and pens, and the name "Hughes" has been repeatedly vandalized from the inscription, as her supporters have blamed Plath's suicide on her estranged husband, Ted Hughes.
- GoofsThe picture of Tommy Lee Royce that appears on the police board at 52:10 is an up to date, post prison image with his bleach blond hair. Later when Catherine Cawood returns to the police station the photo on the board is of a young Tommy Lee Royce.
- Quotes
Catherine Cawood: With all these fumes frankly, I don't know how you're staying conscious - you could go up any second whether you intend to or not. And once you go up, you won't just go up a bit, you'll go up a lot. And the other big thing to say is, it hurts. Three seconds in and you'll be screaming at me to put you out, seven seconds in and you'll be begging me to shoot you.

Great British series.
I started watching this series to see Sarah Lancashire. I've enjoyed everything she's been in so far.
The series moves along at a steady pace with several interesting characters in it. I only wish, as someone from the U. S they would slow their dialogue down just a bit. Many of their slang words they use is hard to pick up and it makes it a little harder to follow along. I'm just concluding the first season. I'm anxious to watch the second season and the upcoming 3rd season.
If, you like to watch police dramas with good story line, they have made a worthy series to watch.
I hope, the next few seasons are as good.
