- Ragnar continues his preparations for the planned attack on Paris and learns as much as he can from Athelstan. Floki has reached the breaking point however, particularly after Athelstan undergoes a dramatic rebirth and reaffirms his Christianity. Kalf and his warriors arrive in Kattegat. Porunn gives birth to a healthy baby girl who Bjorn names Siggy. Ragnar learns of King Ecbert's betrayal and the destruction of their new settlement. In Wessex, Judith gives birth to a son who is named Alfred. The time has also come for her to pay for her infidelity but when she finally names Athelstan, a holy man, King Ecbert sees it as a message from God.—garykmcd
- Kalf and his warriors join Ragnar's expedition force to sail to Paris, Lagertha seems resigned for now. Ragnar still expects Athelstan to guide their first Francian raid, but while the apostate priest performs his rebirth as Christian again, pagan zealot Floki cuts his throat. Ragnar can only give his friend a river burial. When Wessex's prince Aethelwulf discovers that his wife, Northumbrian princess Judith, had an affair with 'Viking monk' Athelstan, king Ecbert condemns the adulteress to loose ears and nose, but after cutting off an ear, pardons her on discovery that she's pregnant and accepts their son Alfred as prince in line for the succession. Bjorn is delighted when Porunn gives birth to a healthy daughter they call Siggy, but it doesn't mend their marriage.—KGF Vissers
