Thoughtful comedy
Yasgreen18 December 2014
I think Puppy Love is a funny typically British comedy. OK it's not a side splitting laugh a minute but it is cleverly crafted and light hearted. I love both leading ladies and its a great addition to their 'comedy duo' work since Getting On. I love the characters and hope to see a further series in the future. I enjoy the relationship between Nana V and Naomi, they are so socially different but with glaringly obvious shared problems within their personal lives. The dogs are great actors in their own right, With Naomi's completely uncontrollable Charlie and Nana V's unruly No Name! I like the way each week there's a little bit of a 'love interest' for the very desperate Nana V and the slightly Unaware Naomi. With Nana's ex husband Tony and Naomi's disinterested hubby Ravi and the 'kids' it just adds to the mix of a very dysfunctional family - what's not to like!

Reasonably funny and quite moving sometimes.

I finally caught up with this recently, as watched Getting On and got the jokes eventually in that series. This is kind of the same type of thing in that it is a bit difficult to categorise as comedy or comedy drama or whatever but has some very funny and touching scenes which caught me out as did Getting on. I liked the physical comedy and absurd story lines with ridiculous over the top main leads putting in great performances. Overall worth watching for the lovely Wirral scenery and many well known guests as well as quite a lot of running gags and some not so obvious social comment. Joanna is a natural comic and is not afraid to put herself in outrageous and embarrassing situations to get a laugh. Seems to have a bit of a fixation with Pooh jokes though ! A mixed bag but I really enjoyed it.

Had me howling!

I stumbled across this series by mistake and ended up looking forward to each weekly episode.

The comedy is quite subtle, but I loved the story and the journey the characters embark on. Brilliant look at snobbery, expectations and friendship.

Joanna Scanlan creates a brilliant plausible character as 'Nana' a dog mad but deeply humane person living hand to mouth with the help of her dog training classes and doggie (dodgy) deals (sorry). Similarly, I loved the uptight 'Naomi' portrayed by Vicki Peppertine and her aspirations for herself, her husband and daughter.

I hope they do another series, but it doesn't look like it :-(

Awful!

I was expecting a fun filled laugh a minute comedy about dogs and owners all I got was rubbish! Really bad wouldn't recommend this to anyone especially not a dog lover. Really really bad didn't laugh once. Could have been really good but very disappointing. I switched off because it was that bad! Apparently you need to write 10 lines but there is nothing to say about this awful show other than it being really bad. I would rather watch paint dry than watch this, No idea how it is classed as a comedy because nothing even slightly comical happens.Watching this was like waiting for the vet bill painful, boring and wondering why you are paying for a TV license.
