- Inspired by the Mahabharata, story about Savvy,a new age woman, who gets married into a family of fighters. The 2 families made of Nath parivar (5 brothers) and cousins the Raj parivaar (4 brothers) have all assembled to hone their martial art skills under their virtuous uncle and teacher Dharmacharya -'Guruji' in their family Abode - THE ARENA at Karmshetra. The Raj brothers are proud, egoistic and wicked while the Nath brothers are righteous simpletons. When the cousins get together, there is a conflict of the arts so as to which style is better. Already hurt by the idea of sharing their Guruji's time with the Nath family, the Raj brothers cannot accept Savvy into the clan as she does not belong to a traditional fighting art. Savvy practices an unorthodox art, JKD, that defies the rigidity and principles of traditional arts. They insult and humiliate Savvy leading to an altercation between the two families where the Raj brothers not only beat the Nath brothers in every match but degrade and humiliate them, leading to their exile from the Arena. The Naths promise to be back after a year and take revenge. They look up to Sati, (SAM) the great JKD teacher who takes them under her wings and builds their fighting abilities. She teaches them JKD, the modern art, inspired by Bruce Lee's philosophy that a fighting art must be tailor made to the individual. She teaches them to aim their skill at the enemy's weakness. Will the righteous Nath brothers be able to avenge their humiliation? Will justice be done to SAVVY & will Savvy redeem her honor? What happens when GURUJI and SAM face each other. Will their art collide? Which martial art will prove to be superior in the cold-blooded exchange of skill? Will the mean and aggressive always bully the simpleton's naïve youth? HATHAPAYI is a story of never ending twists, turns, brutal fights, laughter and grit determination... dedicated to martial arts.
