Internal Combustion
Hitchcoc23 May 2019
The bones have been found and the sister-in-law is on the prowl. She knows Annalise was complicit in the death of her brother and is pushing like crazy to have her pay for it. Of course, the guy was a murderer and a liar. He died because of his own violence, but, of course, none of that can be produced. There is also a connection to the mob that is not finished. Keating is falling apart and trying to maintain her composure in public. It's going to be a bumpy ride to the finish.

Silly, desperate, wannabe clever.

First review ever, but I found this episode so awful that I couldn't help myself. So here we go...

Shonda Rhymes has a big inclination for over the top drama and this is no exception. The main character, Annalise, is not a likable character at all; she is ruthless and pathetic at the same time, in a bipolar kind of way. She's supposed to be this intellectual black Law Professor, but in all of her court room scenes she shouts and bullies her way to victory in a very inelegant manner. To worsen things she is heartless, sees no ends to her means, and then cries about it at night, which in itself is contradictory and shows flaws in the portray of the character (Not by the actress but by the writers). I liked this series at the beginning I must say. I didn't love it but I found it to be fun, but after episode 10 it went downhill. The 'twist' in this particular episode is ever so disappointing. Unpredictable? Yes, but only because it is so desperate. Moreover, I am black, but this whole 'black sass' that Shonda Rhymes insists to force on us in both 'How to get Away with Murder' and 'Scandal' is getting old and it is cheap and over dramatic and portrays powerful black women in a despicable way. I find it humiliating. I won't give this episode a less score because I am watching the next episodes to find out what happens and I am hopeful I will get some answers and explanations to the many questions I have got and some other things I am confused about.

Nothing makes any sense any more

I guess one day soon Amtrak won't even bother with bad writers and just publish the color yellow with dramatic music and people will rate it "10. Oh the drama". We have been trained to just ignore how completely stupid the plots and unrealistic actions have become driven by terribly bad character development.
