The movie was originally banned in Greece for any screening in the International Film Festival there, due to its graphic sex scenes and the graphic violence. It was originally planned for theatrical release back in 2008 by New Star, for a two or three week run. It was later screened in the Independent Film Festival in Patra (Southern Greece) and was finally released on DVD back in 2010.
The first edit of the film was 90 minutes long. After negotiations with a distribution company back in 2008, a new edit was created, which was shorter and more tight, with a 84 minute running time. The company (Private SA) declared bankruptcy during the negotiation period, one month before the originally planned release.
The ending of the movie was supposed to be the actual wedding ceremony between the lead actor and his fiancée. The original script had a whole sequence inside the church, the wedding party and was supposed to end up with the wedding night. The couple would get undress and Theo's wife would finally realize that there is something terribly wrong with him. This ending was never shot, due to some personal issues in the lead actor's real life. The alternative ending was made up in a hurry and was never tested before the first official screening. The dark theme in the end and the suggestion that another couple is actually consuming the victim's flesh made audiences really uncomfortable.
The lead actress (Hara Radeva) was 100% natural throughout the movie and went really deep inside the part, very close to method acting. Due to the fact that she wasn't even aware of doing that, she never paid any attention to how she sounds or what people would might think of her. What happened is that her part divided audiences. Many supporters loved her performance, while other (mainly other actors) hated it, probably because she really touched a nerve in a very unnatural way. She isn't performing at all, she was in fact living the whole thing as if there were no cameras around. Sometimes such a unique performance doesn't seem real to some people, exactly like real accidents and death doesn't look real to anybody, because they have nothing to do with what is being shown in movies and on TV series. She is a natural.
