Everyone loses something
nogodnomasters16 February 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Michael Martini (Vin Bejleri) works as a janitor at John F. Kennedy hospital. His wife is in a state of severe depression and is wasting away after the lost of their son. Michael obtains pills to help his wife from Walter Zann (Tom Sizemore) a nurse at the hospital. Michael employs unorthodox methods to help his wife get out of her depression.

The story is told as a subplot. We already know Michael has been arrested for a crime, but we don't know the charges. What wasn't well developed was why Michael shunned doctors. A little back story and character development would have been nice. What he does makes the story interesting, except the execution was dull.

Guide: F-word. Brief nudity (Ieva Lykos)

great characters, distorted reality

It is a movie that on the backdrop of a seemingly banal and predictable story, depicts contradictory ideas, almost surrealist frames and very expressive characters. It is the seal of Carlo Fusco, I guess. And.. funny as well :)

Odd hints and ambiguities, real and surreal
deadbull-9517130 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
After you have seen it, in retrospect, some of the odd conversations and the early introjections of police chats that don't appear to relate to anything, then make sense. The superficial story line is played out in a realistic way considering the freakish things that are happening, and the explanations that clear the mystery, the twist ending, created more questions then ever. We have seen similar movies many times......dead people who think they are alive.....people acting out delusions that are only revealed as such in the end etc..... This version has a different tone though. Like Milagro Beanfield War meets the Grim reaper. The delusion is acted out with such understated plausibility, that the insanity is accepted as the reality we are given to work with. It is hard to rate this movie for me. I think it's definitely worth watching and contains odd depths and strange surprises all the time, all served up very rationally and plausibly, as the true craziness emerges as the real plot. It was like that photoshop tool where you can fade an image to invisibility, then slowly , 1 percentage point at a time, bring up the image to full contrast and resolution. The apparent story is an invisible myth, and the real one gets brought into focus.

I enjoyed it very much. A thrilling drama
pinkvision-1915331 October 2017
This movie will conquer the viewer because of its realism, and how it builds up to tension and mystery. It is worth seeing this feature for the paced story, realistic drama, good tale, and for the careful direction. By the end of the movie the audience is shocked because of the non predictable end, but satisfied that they saw a worthy realistic story which can really happen to anyone. You can also notice that is a independent movie, with few characters, maybe it has been shoot in Kentucky or something. The photography is not great, in my opinion is a little bit too dark, but it was OK, anyway. Very good cast and even if protagonists are not famous as Bruce Davison, Daryl Hannah and Tom Sizemore, they did well, especially the female which really had a very strong impact on the public for her performance. She had to deal with a mute role and she resulted very credible. There where moments when she broke my heart. Maybe I would have chosen for another type of husband, talking about the actor in the lead male role. I didn't feel pity for him as I supposed to do, anyway. I don't know which was the budget of this film, the scenic design lacks a little bit but is a very good harmony, anyway. I have recently seen the last movie of this director, Carlo Fusco and I think that he is getting really better with this movie, he combined arts with commercial.

Wow ... a journey into the mind
arifafilm23 January 2018
The signature of Carlo Fusco in this film is proof that the director has a distant vision as the great names of American cinema and at the same time led me in a plot that at a certain point I exclaimed: WOW .... I thought of see a trivial story that told a trivial script, instead both writing and directing materialized a film of a certain level and that you enter in every moment of the film itself. Ieva Lykos, in the character of Ester, interpreted a very difficult part and did so with such a realistic interpretation that the commotion took over. The rest of the cast, which has been played by actors of international renown, also made an important contribution, as much as to enrich the entire outline of the film. The scenography, the costumes and the photography are adapted to the context that has been told. It's a film to watch absolutely .... I'll see it again

I've seen this movie twice, I loved it. Excellent work of the director who manages to present a story of troubled minds in a masterly way. One of those films that deserves much more success !!
