Great episode
a_sand_witch21 January 2016
Warning: Spoilers
I wasn't a fan of the first two episodes where they recycled a bunch of old jokes, but this one was hilarious. The gang spoofs another 80s genre perfectly. Dennis plays the perfect "snob ski bully" and Charlie subtly pointing out everything cliché and unrealistic about 80s ski films was awesome. Charlies incredulity towards "mountain rules" was great and Dennis's cocky laugh was spot on.

Disregard Deb Lees review, she's so thick she didn't even understand that the entire episode was a spoof. Mac and Dee even point out that it's a spoof in the first scene. Anyway, This is another classic always sunny episode that gives me hope that this is going to be another great season.

The Gang Hits the Slopes
tirkmane21 January 2016
Warning: Spoilers
The Gang Hits the Slopes is the first episode of season 11 that did not rely entirely on call backs. It was a surprise that this episode was able to stand on it's own and it shines because of it. In this episode, the Always Sunny cast shows how certain characters interact with each other while being paired with one another. As Dennis goes about his skiing excursions, Charlie is constantly trying to make sense of it. His inability to understand what's going on is funny because earlier in the episode he is caught eating a toy tree because Frank mentioned earlier that it was a "candy model". So while Charlie doesn't question certain things, he may question other things.

One of Always Sunny's strengths is when the characters are bickering about something very trivial, or bickering about something where one character will be thinking logically, while the other has his or head in the clouds, completely not understanding the situation. This happened when Mac and Drisko were trying to prank Dennis by spying on naked women. Dee and Charlie clearly don't understand this, even Mac doesn't understand but he's willing to participate anyway.

The randomness involved, Charlie having sex with Tatiana, Drisko wanting to show Dee his genitals and Dennis having a skiing team from Switzerland is hilarious. Dennis shines as well with his maniacal laugh and his "Tatiana must be clean first" monologue that everyone seemed to ignore.

I have big hopes for the rest of this season.

The most underrated episode in my opinion.

Warning: Spoilers
This is an episode that easily gets swept under the rug and to be honest, I don't really know why. For me, compared to Asskickers United and CharDee MacDennis 2, this felt like a return to form for the series. Not only did this episode feel funny, but I loved how it parodied 80s ski movies; especially Frank buying the mountain and the final ski race between Dennis and Charlie. It was funny, it felt new, and It didn't feel like it was rehashing old material from before in a cheap way. The only downside would be Charlie's subplot but besides that, that's about it.

A beautiful homage to Ski School
richeyrich1916 February 2021
If you've seen the 1991 classic "Ski School," then you'll love this amazing parody starring some of the original cast! Absolutely my favorite episode of IASIP. Each character fits into the narrative of the movie in such an awesome way!

This should have been the season opening episode !
namikazedante25 January 2016
Okay now we're talking ! Here we got a Sunny episode worthy of the crazy humor we all love with this show. It has girls, a crazy Dennis and the gang is crazy and doing all kinds of weird stuff.

This is an awesome episode because they did not make up some lame crap with going back to some old jokes and gags. So hopefully this is what the season will be all about, all new and crazy stories :D

Just the beginning of the episode marks that this is going to be a fun ride. We got party, beer, old people and so many other jokes that we all love sunny for so this time the gang got it right.

Even though this kind of theme has been done before they played it off very good. Best episode of the season so far with the first 2 episodes being complete trash.

Funniest scene in season 11!
Dr-Davelope21 October 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I love this episode! It reminds me of the ski movie Better Off Dead. The best scene was at 12:29 when Dennis says to Charlie "I'm disappointed in yoooou!". Never gets old!!!

Too High Concept for a Sunny Episode
michael_bragg991 April 2024
I think it's interesting to compare this episode to other "high concept" episodes like "Charlie Wants an Abortion." Those episodes work because the structure defies our expectations of the high concept when the characters follow their own agendas.

The seriousness of abortion serves to underline the characters' depravity, and the comedy comes from the superficial and self-serving drives of the Sunny characters that drive the plot along lines that have nothing to do with abortion. Normal people's concerns only create opportunities for exploitation.

In this episode, the characters adhere to the high concept of the Ski Movie parody. They follow along with the structure and expectations of said genre. Although they make jokes or meta observations about the genre, structurally they don't depart from the expectations we have about the genre and how the story will develop within it.

Ultimately, I felt like there were a few laughs, but I found myself disappointed and underwhelmed by the end of the episode. It would have made more sense if the guest characters were trying to drive the Ski story forward and the Sunny regulars were derailing that storyline with their own BS.

It just wasn't even the same show

Warning: Spoilers
So I want to start of by saying that people who complain about the new, or last few seasons getting old are wrong and season 10 was hilarious, 9 was OK. This season started off OK, until this episode. Not written by Glenn, Charlie, or Rob, this episode had a terrible concept, script, and director. My favorite episodes feature Dennis as the main focus as this one seems to be. It looked as if it were going to be similar to the jersey shore episode, or boat episode as they left the bar. Wrong.

It lacked proper dialogue for the characters, all of a sudden they are amazing at skiing (remember project bad-ass, mac was awful at it), and the topless girls and sex scenes were so far fetched and out of place, completely awful. I honestly thought they were gonna wake up and it would be a dream of theirs or something. Oh, and Kevin Farley was under used!

Bad episode, no big deal I still know these guys will continue to make us laugh and I have high hopes.

Not good.
deb_m-8436821 January 2016
Warning: Spoilers
After being fairly disappointed with season 11 so far (regurgitation of old jokes and story lines) This started promising - The gang haven't "hit the slopes" before. Within 10 minutes it became nothing but schoolboy humour (is there a new director? Is he 15 years old?) with dated jokes and topless women throughout. Also a pretty long sex scene with Charlie? WTF they haven't did that before now... but whatever floats the boat and attempts to keep ratings with virgin teenage boys.

Seems like they are rapidly running out of ideas and using the whole 'tits out' as humour. Its not 1990 guys!

Sunny was always really original with story lines and humour and unique characters. This episode was aptly named "The Gang Hit the Slopes" because that's exactly where the show is heading.
