The characters' navigation of these dimensions is well done by the film's creators through skillful effects. These effects have an awe-inspiring quality, and are very simply beautiful to look at.
I particularly liked design elements in settings that gave the scenes distinct moods, combined with some very good costuming. The twins' look is a great example of this. The whole look of the film defies a concrete date or city, or planet, for that matter, in which the action is set.
