There are several plot holes involving the crash. First, the police are shown going into the OR and removing Dr. Clemmens for drug testing. This would never happen since the police would incur liability in the event the patient died or the surgery did not turn out properly. Second, the fact he ran a stop sign would not constitute reckless driving, it is simply a traffic violation. Reckless driving under Texas transportation code 545.401 requires "wilful or wanton disregard for the safety of persons or property" when driving for it to be reckless driving, not momentary inattention as was the case here. Finally, the only interest of the police would be a blood sample for testing, which would be done in a crime lab, not the hospital where the suspect worked. Absent probable cause for arrest, the police would have no interest nor legal justification in preventing him from operating.
