- From times untold where legends are written in soil with blood, a hero is born. Maula Jatt, a fierce prizefighter with a tortured past seeks vengeance against his arch nemesis Noori Natt, the most feared warrior in the land of Punjab.
- The Jatt Sardar commands his most loyal warrior, Ali to take his young son to safety from the wrath of the power hungry Natt clan as the battle rages in the heart of medieval Punjab. The young Maula flees as his father takes a lone stance to ward off the Natts amidst the mauled bodies of his loyalists. Repressing memories of the carnage of his family he loses all recollection along with the knowledge of his royal lineage.
Living in foster care his sole companion is his foster brother who, unaware of Maula's past makes a mockery of his strange and timid disposition in a land of roaring warriors. But when his brother is being thrashed the true Jatt in Maula surfaces and strikes down the bully. This feat meets the shrewd eye of the owner of the village's wrestling arena who takes Maula under his wing.
Twenty five years later Maula emerges in the ring, an unbeatable fighter. But to ward off the onslaught of nightmares that haunt him still he takes to drinking. It is during one of his drunken escapades that he meets Mukko, the love of his life.
Unknown to Maula, the eldest born of the man who slaughtered his parents and plundered his home, Noori Natt incarcerates himself to find his nemesis in a hapless dungeon. In senseless fury he kills all, yearning to find a worthy challenger.
Meanwhile in the Natt fortress, the mantle of successor to the Natt clan goes to his cousin deeming Noori too unruly to rule the clan. But Daro, his sister beheads him with an ominous warning that all aspirants to the title, except Noori will meet the same fate.
While Noori's ascent to glory is being planned Maula's drunken fall from grace ensues. Unable to bear the shame being wrought to the Jutt name and Maula's turmoil the now aged Ali reveals the past and hands him his father's deadly Gandasa. Its blade soon draws blood of the Natt soldiers and then of Noori's brother.
Noori is recalled from prison and kills Maula's foster brother. With animosity rising to a crescendo Maula and Noori lock in combat when Noori's father strikes Maula down to save his son. So incensed is Noori for being deprived of a fight to death with the long awaited worthy opponent that he kills his own father and declares Daro, his sister the queen of the clan.
Betrayal abounds in the Natt clan as the father of the slayed cousin kills Daro and stages Maula's escape. Framing Maula and pitching him against Noori knowing him to be the only mortal capable of slaying this demon too deranged to be left alive. Noori, enraged by Daro's death, burns down Maula's village and cuts off the escape route of Maula's family and villagers. Word of the imminent massacre reaches Maula still recuperating from his injuries. Oblivious of his wounds he charges to stop Noori and his thugs.
What follows is a duel to defy mortal limits as two battle hardened warriors lock horns. The blades of their weapons cut flesh and bone alike till Maula strikes the fatal blow and Noori, the invincible falls. With him falls a legacy of vengeance as the now rudderless Natt and Jatt clans unite under the one fighter who stands his ground - Maula Jatt.
