Cute Hallmark movie!
huggibear20 March 2017
I give it a 6.5 because of it's cuteness! It's not my favorite of the Hallmark movies I've seen, but it would rank it in the top 33% of them. It's well worth one viewing for sure! The typical oblivious girl, with the typical 'I don't want to risk what I currently have for anything that could turn out much worse by expressing my feelings to the girl I love' kind of guy. What will happen? Will he express his feelings, or will she come out of her oblivion or will they go in opposite directions of each other? Watch and see.

Age Adjustment
TRlNITY13 September 2015
Well, first I found it entertaining. It's what you're expecting and sometimes that's kinda nice.

I found the main character easy to relate to.

My only complaint is, is it just me or were her love interests old enough to be her father???? I couldn't get passed her main romantic interest looking so much older than her. I just kept seeing this midlife crisis guy hitting on a 20-something and that skeeved me out. It was impossible to get invested in her romance so that took away from the story for me.

Other than that though, it was a cute movie for a Saturday afternoon.

Is it spring? Everything is green.
rcr16082 February 2015
If you are madly in love with all things climate change – green – save the planet, then you are going to love, love, love this movie. If you feel insulted by every single thing being put on film now having to rip on you, and tell you that you are horrible and hate the planet, and want to destroy the planet, and they need to fix you by preaching at you night and day until you stop killing the planet then this movie will annoy you. It is so arrogant and conceited to decide you know what average people are doing and not doing, and then assuming the worst of them. The incredibly green girl in this movie gets all her birthday wishes and is oblivious to her best friends love for her. Will she figure it out and return the feeling? Who can say? You'll have to watch and find out.

A charmless wish
TheLittleSongbird27 February 2023
Actually did sort of like the idea, it did sound quite cute and had potential to be very sweet and charming if done well. Was worried though about lack of substance, repetition and the risk of it being shallow and also if the female lead character would be as unappealing as she sounds. 'A Wish Come True' is the first 2015 Countdown to Valentine's Day Hallmark film, and stars Megan Park (who is watchable in the right roles but is up and down in this regard) and Benjamin Hollingsworth (similar).

On the whole, the 2015 Countdown to Valentine's Day block was watchable, with the rest of the films being average and above. 'All of My Heart' even being very nicely done and one of the better Hallmark films that year. 'A Wish Come True' however does not live up to its name in any way and is not a good way to start off any seasonal block. Of the 2015 Countdown to Valentine's Day films, it is easily the worst (the only one this reviewer didn't like) and one of the worst Hallmark films that year in my opinion.

It is not a complete and utter disaster. It looks nice, with the scenery being lovely.

The other redeeming quality is Hollingsworth, who gives the only halfway decent performance and is the best thing about the film. He at least looks natural, seems to realise what film he's in, has the only character that has any degree of likeability and has a down to earth amiable charm that wasn't present with the rest of the cast.

However, everything else is poor. Park does try hard (too much so really to the point that it feels like over-compensating until she gives up later on), but her character is really dull, as shallow as the plot synopsis made her sound and the film goes too far in making her self-absorbed to the point of over-bearing arrogance. The supporting cast are no better, with the father and ex boyfriend being especially obnoxiously acted. Saw no need for the latter. There is no chemistry between Park and Hollingsworth, what he saw in her the shallower and more selfish she got requires some suspension of disbelief.

In fact the chemistry between the entire cast is barely existent and only Hollingsworth's character is likeable or interesting. The others are dull or/and annoying to an over-bearing degree. The script is very stilted and sophomoric and is full of cringe worthy cheese and cavity inducing sentiment, and the story has no energy, is very predictable and emotionally is very bland in every way, wit, charm, emotion, tension are completely absent.

Concluding, very weak. 3/10.

So many issues with this movie
thenry-2124914 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This movie was a disappointment to say the least. Of course she gets everything she wished for but losing weight??? She gets on the scale and it says 122... she sighs and acts like she is so fat. Then gets her wish and gets on the scale only to lose 5 lbs. She is already tiny! Then when trying on her dress to go out.. she says "what do I look fat?" Are you kidding me! Why is this character so worried about her weight? Not great hallmark. Fail!

Not a good movie, very shallow
j_co17 March 2020
Warning: Spoilers
The main character is very one dimensional, all she cares about (or at least she says she cares about) is the environment and finding a man, every 5 minutes they make sure we didn't forget it!

I liked Dave (her BFF), although, in real life, a sweet, smart and attractive guy like him will never be friend-zoned like this, it's just not believable.

Also, I know the movie came out before me-too, but this relationship with Reed is very inappropriate, he is twice her age. and the all work relationship makes the entire thing kind of gross.

Lazy and Weak
rebekahrox1 February 2015
Very sub-par entry in the Hallmark romance line-up. Nothing to recommend it except Ben Hollingsworth and his performance. Very lazy production. I liked Megan Park's looks (not your typical ex-beauty queen thing going on...thank-you for sparing me that at least), but her character was boring and charmless. The whole story consists of her getting all of her childhood wishes. Utterly predictable "Be careful what you wish for" scenario. All of these Hallmances are predictable but the better ones have some good conflict, maybe a little suspense, an evil nemesis to hiss and boo at, a nice learning curve, some good humor, nice performances, great chemistry or,golly, something to entertain and keep your interest. This one had none of these in addition to an incredibly annoying father and ex-boyfriend. The rival for her hand was a nonentity. The scene at the end where the doggie put a mysterious note in the trashcan was bewildering.

Enjoy the Men
splashpont18 February 2024
This story is atypical in the usual Hallmark storyline brand, so it's a breath of fresh air. And the use of "a wish that comes true" keeps the story moving in various ways (not the usual straight line with the couple doing things together).

There are lots of men who appear throughout the movie--there's even a guest appearance. As the movie progressed, I wondered if this was on the movies and mysteries channel. But then, I actually laughed out loud, very loud, as the revolving door of men started running into one another.

There is always a "problem" in a romcom, but the viewer will have no such thing while enjoying the eye candy.

Could have been worse, but hardly an impressive movie...
paul_haakonsen14 June 2018
Indeed I had my expectations as to what I was getting myself into when I sat down to watch "A Wish Come True", but still opted to go with it. It could actually be a surprisingly nice movie and totally prove me wrong.

This is a very generic and stereotypical Hallmark movie in every sense of that meaning. The storyline was as sappy as they come, which was as to be expected from such a movie. And it was also every bit as predictable as they come.

The cast was adequate, and the acting talents were doing fair enough jobs with their given roles, despite not really having much to work with. Megan Park actually did a fair enough job carrying the movie.

There are far better movies out there if you enjoy these types of sappy Hallmark movies. For a romantic comedy such as this then "A Wish Come True" didn't really fare rather well, and it just didn't offer anything extraordinary to the romantic comedy genre. And it wasn't even because it was a movie primarily aimed at an all-female audience, because that was not the case. The movie just wasn't all that good, to be bluntly honest.

Cute story, Wrong cast
AngelCullen3 June 2018
The primes of the story was cute, I like the idea but none of the cast had any chemistry, not even the main couple .. the acting was bad, really really bad! Also, the heroine looked so much younger than her age, not just in looks but her acting ... This was a big fail for me ..

Undone to Me **
edwagreen10 February 2015
Warning: Spoilers
An utterly inane, ridiculous production where at the age of 30, a woman's birthday wishes from the past and present start coming to fruition. Before that, nothing had really materialized in her life.

Set upon by 3 beaus, you wonder who she will finally wind up with. It's basically a story of you don't have to pursue, when your candidate is basically in the backyard.

The woman in the office and the girl's father are given little to do, despite the fact that the father could have been a very entertaining character. There is also the girl's brother who also does pretty much nothing.

In short, unexpected bonanzas don't always bring happiness.

Dave Deserves Better- Me
sscarito9 February 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I literally only persuaded my friends to watch this movie because the lead character is always A VILLAIN in every movie I've seen her in. Again, she was a villain in this one. The girl literally didn't realize Dave (the best man ever in existence) loving her dearly. She is cruellll. af. So, this is mostly a copy of Debbie Ryan's 16 wishes. We don't talk about the OLD ancient 16 wishes. Just debbie, jessie, my lady. At the beginning of the movie, we time skipped FIVE YEARS with no WARNING??? that's how long i remember being alive. So now, this woman is gonna turn 30. so ofc she is worried bout KIDS. MENSTRUAL PERIODS. she wants a child, but first she needs a mans. So, as a result, we had like 50 whole mans! Anyways.... so , this chick wishes for her wishes to come true- #DAvEdEsErVesBETTER because she's literally 12 years old, which makes her dating older men even more WEIRD than it already was.. she gets on the scale. it says 122. #davedeservesbetter SHE SAYS SHES FAT! does this girl even know what she has going on for her? not the glasses. not the dresses. not the personality. the weight? eh. maybe. i mean, dave seemed to like her anyways i guess. whatever. So we get a puppy THROWN IN but with no name, and literally almost no contribution to the plot except that he makes the house messy. also??> #davedeservesbetter it's never explained when she clean this?? but we come back and it's very clean. Her wishes were soooo lame. Like, wish for cancer to be eliminated? You selfish beotch. Wish for no poverty??? this privileged girl get out. this is a list of who is the good people, this is who will go to heaven. 1. dave 2. puppy 3. joey 4. dad 5. mix of reed and billy (hell) All of these characters are better than Lindsay, otherwise known as Satan. We took a break and watched the kitten bowl to bring ourselves back to sanity. This movie made us develop various problems... For some reason, every hallmark movie we watch- resolves everything in the last 10 minutes. HOW? Do they just run out of time?? Like, the problems aren't even there until a minute earlier. Then they're solved. Was there a point of having an hour and 23 long minute movie....if we're gonna have every issue last 5 mins.? No? Only me? No. #davedeservesbetter Lastly, Dave deserved better. He should have moved on. Lindsay should have dated Billy and divorced him later like her mom and dad.. Dave would marry me in the end, we would go rock climbing. It would be a lovely time. Also, we would take the puppy in custody for it's own protection- naming the cute pupper Momo. :')
  • Sam, Dave's future wifey.

Shallow and green
Jackbv1231 March 2024
Admittedly this is more than a few years ago before Hallmark went totally woke, but I am still a little surprised that there was a bit of parody about obsessing over being Green.

Lindsay (Megan Park) is obsessed over making the world Green. That is part of what makes her so shallow. It's kind of funny because the word shallow implies a lack of layers in a character but Lindsay actually has several layers of shallow. For most of the movie she is willing to practically sell her soul for these things. Being a big shot in the corporate world, having her dream home, dream guy, dream project. It's too bad because I find Megan Park appealing and not just for her good looks. But in this movie, for so much of it, she had to go against the sweet girl persona she does so well. That girl is usually upbeat, but Lindsay comes off as kind of sad.

If Lindsay isn't bad enough, Billy is downright annoying. I wish I thought that part was funny, but it was just annoying.

While the wish plot theme is a bit unusual, this story isn't that far off the typical format for when the lead female isn't seeing her best guy friend right in front of her. You know in general terms what is going to happen. And of course she has to make a grand gesture.

I can't help but think of the movie Birthday Wish which is also a Hallmark TV movie even though there are big differences. The biggest difference is that it is actually upbeat and funny.
