There are shows and websites and even an entire industry built around planning the "best" response to the type of events depicted in the sketch, but I've frequently wondered if the best response wouldn't actually be something along the lines of what's depicted here. Sometimes the optimal reaction to the overwhelming is to accept the inevitable and appreciate the joys still available.
