Having lost the orchestra job and with Oedipus Rocks having closed prematurely, Hailey is left with only one source of income, namely teaching Duncan, leaving her feeling a little exposed, especially economically. Understanding the financial struggles of artists but not one to sweat such things for himself, Alex provides her with a means to pick up a few dollars, he wiling to provide his support. But one paycheck Hailey may not have the nerve to pick up is her several hour stint with the orchestra, her on stage gaffes humiliation enough with regard to her experience with the organization. Meanwhile, Rodrigo believes that the orchestra members are being too mechanical in their playing. In wanting them to put more feeling in their playing even during rehearsals, he tries an experiment with them, it with unintended consequences. And Thomas has agreed to giving an interview, it not quite the format he was expecting. In addition, with the interview questions being more about Rodrigo than himself, he secretly asks one of the assistants to interrupt the interview on the pretense of an emergency, effectively ending the interview process. That interruption isn't quite as Thomas expects.
