- Only three days are left for the house of wax to go up in flames and for Kunti and her five sons to burn to death. Vidur informs Pandas of the evil plan and sends them a miner who helps them dig a tunnel to escape.
- The army of bodyguards protecting Pandavas is also loyal to Duryodhan.. Yudhishthir knows that Purochan and the army will never allow the Pandavas to escape the palace alive. The outer periphery of the battle of Kurukshetra is being prepared at Varnavat.
Vidur sends the Pandavas a miner who helps them dig a tunnel to escape. He gets the news from his spy that the date to set fire to the palace is now only 3 days away. One bhil family (1 mom and 5 sons) is going to help Purochan in this task of setting fire to the palace. Only three days are left for the house of wax to go up in flames and for Kunti and her five sons to burn to death. Shakuni and Duryodhan are already rejoicing that they have succeeded in their plot and will be rid of the Pandavas in a short period of time.
Vidur sends a message to Yudhishthir that the Pandavas should escape the palace and set fire to the palace, one day before the planned date. the miner sent by Vidur completes his tunnel and takes leave. He says that protecting the motherland is the duty of all citizens. Even the warriors and princes of the realm are citizens of the motherland and only doing their duty.
Gandhari has a dream in which Lord Shiva performs the dance of destruction in her house, but wont tell her why. The Lord of Fire tells Gandhari that her house is going to be on fire, and asks her not to put a curse on him for the same. He then proceeds to burn down the Hastinapur palace. Even Lord Indra ignores Gandhari's pleas for help
Even at the last moment, Karna wants Duryodhan to stop his scheme at Varnavat. Duryodhan refuses to accept Yudhishthir as his king. Karna argues that Duryodhan will never be happy with the Kingdom he got by stealth, and not won fair and square on the battlefield. Karna is indebted to Duryodhan and promises to follow him regardless of whether he likes the direction in which Duryodhan is going or not.
On the night before the planned attack on Pandavas, Purochan has drinks with the Bhil family inside the palace (Purochan's plan was to murder the family, so that there is no chance of any loose talk later on). Purochan didn't know that Shakuni had planned to have him killed by the chief of the bodyguards surrounding the palace. But that's when Pandavas set fire to the palace and escape via the tunnel, and Purochan is also caught in the fire and dies. The charred corpses of a woman and her five sons mistakenly give credence to the news that the Pandavas were burnt alive.
The Kauravas shed false tears for the "dead" Pandavas. Shakuni congratulates Duryodhan as the new Yuvraj of Hastinapur. Now Duryodhan's route to the throne of Hastinapur is clear and there is no obstacle in his way. Shakuni delivers the news of the Pandavas death to Dhritarashtra. Dhritarashtra blames Shakuni in private for the death of the Pandavas. He says that the palace was built by Shakuni and not Duryodhan. He orders Shakuni to leave.. Dhritarashtra delivers the news to Bhishma who locks himself in his cabin in grief.
