The team is investigating the disappearance of its own commissioner, Tine Peeters. Her husband Dirk is able to provide them with a facial composition of a man he recently spotted watching their house. The drawing is a perfect match to Jan Degraeve, a condemned murderer whose case belonged to Tine back when she was working as a homicide detective. When they discover that Degraeve was recently released on parole and is now nowhere to be found, Tine's colleagues believe her life to be in danger. Tine meanwhile finds herself tied up in Degraeve's car, as they are driving through the forests of the Ardennes. She suddenly succeeds to escape after Degraeve pulls over to replace a flat tire. During her run she however slips and ends up with a severe leg injury, which makes it more difficult to continue. Degraeve soon proves to be back on Tine's track, as she witnesses him shooting a passerby in cold blood, which makes her realize once more she is not likely to survive her adventure. The cat-and-mouse game continues and eventually comes down to a final confrontation, during which Tine is fortunately able to pull a knife and stab Degraeve to death.
