"SMILF" is an American 9-minute live action short film from 2015. This one was written by and directed by Frankie Shaw who also plays the main character in here and of course many know the series that was put into effect based on this short movie and that was also quite a success with awards bodies, especially for Shaw. But I must say from what i saw in here, I am not too eager to check the series out any time soon. This is about a mother who feels a strong urge to have sex for the first time since giving birth, so she calls a friend (played by Thomas Middleditch, many will know him too) and everything that follows is awkwardness as you could say that it really all goes wrong. The heavy sunburn is the least of problems. But he sure got burned during this movie. Be it the kid being in the same room, on the same bed, the woman's constant talking or the marks on her body where she would like to have plastic surgery, it's virtually impossible to have intercourse this way obviously. Also the time the guy seems to need to get going towards the end, implies that he is fine with being there, but it is far from a dream scenario for him. It's a comedy that lives through the awkwardness of it all, not really through dialogues, maybe a film females will find funnier and more worth seeing than males overall. But i would not recommend it to either sex to be honest. I hope the series turned out better than this first version we got here. Even at nine minutes, it felt like dragging at times. Not really the actors' fault, they elevate the weak material occasionally. Not enough for a positive recommendation though. Don't watch. Or only watch if you really love the series and are curious about how it all started. But it won't turn you into a fan. Not a fan of the title either. It's catchy yes, but that's really it.
