Writer/Producer/Director David Hinds had previously made a black and white short film called The Hunt For The House On Cuckoo Lane several years before. The inspiration for the original short film was born from Hinds' obsession with the mythology surrounded the infamous faux-snuff film The Last House On Dead End Street and journalist/film critic David Kerekes' (of Headpress) journey to discover the truth about the movies origins . The feature length movie from 2014 re-uses some minor footage from that earlier short film to preserve some of the performances of the actors that could no longer be involved in the feature film.
The film features an assortment of dead animals. These were all real animals, either found dead or purchased frozen (as snake food) from pet stores. No live animals were actually harmed during the production of the film.
