In the premiere episode of CBC Music Backstage Pass, the Sheepdogs travel to Sun Studio in Memphis to record an exclusive cover of Elvis Presley's "Hound Dog." Frontman Ewan Currie channels the king with the help of some modern effects and a little inspiration from Jerry Lee Lewis and Johnny Cash. Hollywood's legendary Quincy Jones introduces Backstage Pass to his pop/jazz protégé, Nikki Yanofsky. We travel to Hollywood, CA, to the Capitol Studios to crash a session in the renowned Studio A. YouTube sensation Walk Off the Earth perform their song "Red Hands" in our Toronto studio. And Halifax's Classified and David Myles give an unplugged performance of their hit song "Inner Ninja" while celebrating the title of having the most successful rap single in the Canadian record books.

In this special episode of CBC Music Backstage Pass, The Sheepdogs travel to Memphis Tennessee to record four songs at the legendary Sun Studio. The Sheepdogs front man Ewan Currie visits Graceland and talks a little about how 'The King' made it cool to emote while still being 'a man'. Ewan invites BSP to his favourite Memphis dive and watering hole to explain a bit of his creative process and the energy found in the city that Elvis Presley first recorded. The band visits GUS's in Memphis for deep-fried chicken and pickles meal before heading back to the studio to perform a Sheepdogs original "Hang Onto Yourself". The band hit Beale Street for a beverage before laying down the Elvis Presley classic "That's Alright". The Sheepdogs drop the vocals in the final segment and take us out heavy and hard. A hard hitting performance of "Javelina" closes out this one-of-a-kind show.
