This episode is really quite astonishing.

In other reviews I have indicated -- perhaps taking a "macro" view -- that this little boutique series does a better job of dealing with the complex subject of AI than JJ Abrams is doing with his behemoth Person of Interest in the US.

A statement all the more remarkable since, not only does Abrams have virtually infinite money and resources (compared to Humans) but POI was not originally about such a conflict as written, Abrams deliberately ambushed his own show, and took it in a new direction, because he was convinced he could produce "the" definitive work on the topic. He was wrong. HUMANS, with all its many flaws, is the better work.

But I wanted to write this review on a micro level.

There is a scene is the original Frankenstein by Shelly where the monster accidentally encounters a small child. It is not an important scene in the main story arc but over the centuries it has become one of the most iconic parts of the tale.

In this episode of HUMANS, there is a scene where a small human child chases down the loopy and incredibly dangerous NISKA (a brilliant characterization by the visually stunning Emily Berrington, and one that deserves peer acknowledgement) and practically forces the dangerous 'bot to play dolls with her.

I was mesmerized. Putting aside for the moment the several dozen arcs the writers have built into this series, this one scene was at the same time so interesting and yet so potentially explosive, I literally could not turn away.

THAT is great story-telling. And great entertainment.

I Have Found A Way That We Can All Be Safe.

Warning: Spoilers
So here we have VOSS having flashbacks about her time with DAVID, the creator of these synths. And then Anita, at the Hawkins residence. Oh sorry , its MIA now. Mia keeps an incredibly clean kitchen in the Hawkins residence. Man that kitchen is immaculate. And Mia sympathizes with Laura about her relationship with her mother, over coffee. Laura is obviously quite taken with MIA and her ability to express emotion.

+1 Star for this opening sequence as the relationship between Laura and Mia seems to deepen

A car arrives, it's Joe. Joe is wondering what is going on in his own house these days.

LOL and then Pete, looking around Voss' house trying to come to terms with the fact that Voss is a synth, and he just had some sex with it.

Voss shows up at George's place looking for Niska. George says Niska ain't there, but Niska comes out to confront Voss, who she refers to as Beatrice. Apparently there's some history there between Niska and Beatrice. Apparently David tried to destroy Voss/ Beatrice because Leo would not accept her as a replacement for his mother. Oh wait , Beatrice was David's wife. so Voss wants Niska to destroy her. But Niska calls out Voss as a traitor to her own kind. And Voss tries to kill Niska but George pleads with Voss to stop, and Voss ends up shooting George. George is dying, and he tells Niska to escape while she can. Glitchy ODI comes out of hiding to talk to George one final time. Speaking to glitchy ODI seems a comfort to George as he lies there dying. And George dies. What a sad way to go, shot by your own creations.

+1 Star for George's death scene. I admit, it made me tear up a little.

Leo meets up with Fred. Niska is on the run contacts them. Joe and family are drinking coffee again. Fred figures out that because of Max's weight and buoyancry and the river current approximately where Max might wash up on shore, and lo and behold, there MAX is. So Max is recovered. Niska shows up at hte Hawkins residence now. Oh the family is growing!!!!

But to restore Max they need to quickly repair him! He';s out of power and out of synth fluid! Max needs a quick oil change!!! What? They tell Toby to talk to Max? That's supposed to help him? Okay that's dumb. But they try to make some makeshift synth fluid and it appears Max is saved!

-1 Star for the silliness of that scene

When Niska hides upstairs in the Hawkins residence ot stay away from people, little Sophie goes up there to talk to her. Sophie compares Niska to her little blonde haired doll she has, and Niska exclaims 'Im not a doll!' But somehow Sophie convinces Niska to play dolls with her. Fred, Joe, and Toby are outside kicking a ball around, talking about how kids are important and how 'loving ' them is important, and not 'messing up'.

VOSS, gets in Hobb's car outside George's house. Voss explains she wants to help Hobb hunt down the other synths. Voss has an idea that these synths were never meant to be. That these conscious synths need to be destroyed. Amazing how we have traitor's to our own kind even in robots eh???

So at the dinner table in the Hawkins House, Leo reveals to everyone both human and synth, that he believes David hid something in their heads. He believes that together they know a way to give 'consciousness' to all synths. This is a big reveal. Yet not unexpected.

Max is powered up finally but he's glitching and obviously not 'himself'. Apparently Max is dying. His root code is breaking down because he was without power for too long. Which doesn't make a lot of sense to me but whatever. And Laura doesn't appear to like Sophie being around Niska. After Niska is reported on the news as a killer. Laura and Joe don't want the synths around their family anymore.

Ruh Roh, Voss shows up in the kitchen as Leo is 'gathering his things'. And then Hobb and a better size of goons show up. Everyone is scared now!!

Okay really no huge whoop for this ep. 6/10
