Overall I enjoyed the pilot to SVTFOE, I still remember like it was watching it yesterday as it aired just laying in bed as I would enjoy 20 or more minutes of one of my favorite cartoons. Now Anyway;

Star Comes to Earth: A simple start to the show as Star would go to another world filled with new friends, enemies and even adventures. The hug at the end was worth it and very heartwarming to see.

Party with a Pony: Ponyhead is of course annoying but the ending made this episode good for me. As it would begin the worldbuilding of the show introducing new characters and storylines along the way.

What a lovely start to a great new series!

Star Comes to Earth was a good start. Marco, the safe kid, doesn't like having to look after Star when her magic causes trouble for him. But then they fight Ludo and the other monsters and Marco likes being with Star. Party With A Pony was the introduction of Lilacia Pony Head, who took Star and Marco to lots of fun places like the Bounce Lounge and the video game place with square people. She is in conflict with Marco for being Star's new bestie, but then she accepts it and lets Star and Marco have her dimensional scissors. I really liked this show from the start, and you probably will, too. It's a far more interesting version of Gravity Falls (Star = Mabel and Marco = Dipper) that doesn't try as hard to appeal to adults in ways as close as it can get to Rick and Morty. I really love Star's magic and colorful spells and her energy, and Marco is just as likable as her.

Has potential....

Warning: Spoilers
I've heard about "Star vs. The Forces Of Evil" and how good it is for a long time, so I'd finally decided that I was going to start watching! So, here's my review of the first two episodes of "Star vs.", split into two separate paragraphs each.

"Star Comes To Earth" is....bad. I didn't like the story, the characters, or the setting, and I'll tell you why. But first, the good things. The music and theme are quite nice, actually, and the animation is, while a little chaotic-seeming, is pretty good quality. However, that doesn't make up for the all the sucky things here.

All of the episode seems very rushed. Star and the "safe kid" go from absolutely hating each other to being bffs in 20 seconds, seemingly for no reason except to fight monsters. Talking about the "safe kid", he's a very...boring character. It seemed like the writers expected us to accept that he had character development in under 8 minutes, and can also do karate, 'cause why not. The humor was my least favourite kind. The "I'm not clumsy", then slips on banana peel kind of humor. Overall...this is just bad.

"Party with a pony" is SLIGHTLY better than the previous episode. The good things in this episode are the very enjoyable places, and...that's about it. The new characters are odd, which I'm fine with, but they're also annoying. I can't wonder "what are these characters' motives" when they're screaming their brains out. Also, new random junk is introduced, like those scissors that were mildly shown in last episode.

One thing that annoyed me AGAIN was the character development. Safe kid and Pony hate each other until the last minute of the episode, where the pony's just like "hey sorry for being a selfish jerk thanks for your karate". And the main character, Star, hasn't shown any main character material yet. She could be a one-off character for all I could care. However, overall, the show can STILL be good, if they eventually provide backstory and/or better character development. I really hope they do.

Rating #1: 4.2/10 Rating #2: 4.6/10 Rating Overall: 4.4/10
