So We Reach the End!
Hitchcoc20 February 2017
I missed the series when it was first on, but I heard people talking about it. Then, all ten episodes were released on Netflix. The last three days have been so entertaining as my wife and I got totally hooked. I was teaching my Seventh Graders the day of the verdict. A social studies teacher yelled down the hall that they were about to announce the result and I hustled my whole class to a small room and watched the result with about 150 kids and adults. The presentation of the verdict on this show was done to the letter. What I didn't see were the closing arguments. There was so much evidence against O.J., but it never mattered. As Ito said, this trial was about emotion. The jury rendered the wrong verdict. Of course, the mistakes with the gloves and Furhman's being allowed to testify, probably did them in. Unfortunately, they had their minds made up before they ever sat down in that jury room. Also, two jurors seemed to give in to pressure without even a fight. The other part off this episode that was somewhat satisfying was that while O.J. got his freedom, he never really got it back. He thought he would be embraced by his friends. Well, he became a pariah. For the most part, they just stayed away. Robert Kardashian, who was his best friend for 20 years, realized that he was guilty and never had anything to do with him again. The father of those self-centered girls did not terribly long after the end of the trial. He appears to have been a tragic figure. That said. Great series!

The bitter end
Mr-Fusion7 April 2017
"God, that was tense" is really the best way I can describe the finale; and it's just as much about the fallout as it is the verdict itself. But hearing the prosecution's closing statements (which are nothing less than damning) just compounds the dread, even if the finding is a foregone conclusion. The writers really know how to turn the knife here, first with Garcetti's plea to Darden and Clark in the opening moments ("Guys, please nail this") and a single line in during Garcetti's funereal press conference from a reporter: "So, are you going to find the real killer now?" I mean, you are right there with the Goldmans' anguish.

We all knew how this would end, but that somehow makes it even worse. Just like the rest of season, this is really about race, and the crowd reaction footage is a testament to that. This has always been quality television, and the finale is no letdown.

And I'm actually kinda sad it's over.

"The Verdict" (#1.10) / Season 1 In Review

Warning: Spoilers
OMG. That was so intense. I honestly don't think my heart has ever raced that fast before. The whole time, I was out of breath. The whole. Darn. Time.

I was familiar with the case and was well aware of the outcome, but that doesn't change the fact. I was so glued. So attached. This was such an intense episode -- so much so that I'm still trying to recover.

I felt like I was right there in the courtroom. I somehow felt like I was a part of this. I somehow felt like the verdict was going to somehow affect me personally, even though I knew full well that it in absolutely no way would. It felt like that, though. It really did. This sense of urgency was so palpable, it's almost hard to begin to fathom.

I watch a lot of television. It can be really hard to impress me. But not here. This was a masterpiece of all sorts.

The same could be said for much of season 1. I was thoroughly impressed with the powerful performances from everybody involved. Season 1 of "American Crime Story" deserves all the praise it gets. This is excellent television right here.

One thing that I enjoyed, aside from the amazing cinematography, directing, and acting, was the extreme attention to detail. Everything was so close to reality. It was like a mirror of the true story. The cast was no exception. I swear it was like I was actually there with them, watching history unfold in it's making.

Very, very well done. I really don't think my vocabulary is extensive enough to express how unbelievably amazed I am with the first season!

If I could give the episode a score of an 11, I would. It was that good.

I give "The Verdict" a 9.9/10.

Season 1 Rating: 9.6/10.

A Wonderful Episode and Series

The People vs O.J. Simpson: The Verdict (2016)

The tenth and final episode in this magnificent series has O.J. Simpson (Cuba Gooding, Jr.), the defense and the D.A. facing the jury in a moment in time that will change all of their lives as well as change the way America judges the legal system.

Well, the series has finally come to an end and it ends on another terrific episode. I'm pretty sure everyone watching this series and episode already know the outcome of the verdict so it's rather amazing that the director was able to build up the suspense like they were able to. It's also rather amazing at how this episode ends because the sight of O.J. pretty much tells you everything you need to know in the trouble that he would face going forward.

Now, for the overall series. I must admit that I was downright floored at how wonderful it was. For starters, the amount of energy, passion and anger expressed here was rather remarkable and even more so when you consider that most people already know all the facts about the case. We know about the race card. We know about Furhman. We know about the verdict. Yet, even though we know everything the series still managed to make us pay full attention and took us for an excellent ride.

A lot of the success has to go to the wonderful cast. To say the majority of them were simply amazing would be an understatement because it's hard to play people we're already familiar with. Sterling K. Brown (Darden), Nathan Lane (Bailey), Sarah Paulson (Clark), David Schwimmer (Kardashian), John Travolta (Shapiro) and Courtney B. Vance (Cochran) were all remarkable in their parts and managed to turn in some of the greatest performances you're going to see anywhere. The one weak spot for me was Cuba Gooding, Jr. who simply wasn't right for the role. He just never once made you feel like you were watching O.J.. He was just missing that certain charisma and charm that O.J. always had. I blame miscasting more than anything else.

So, in the end, THE PEOPLE VS O.J. SIMPSON was a tremendous success and I must admit that I'm going to miss watching it each week. I can also say that I would gladly start the series over and watch it again.

Crazy real-life story amazingly told
chmodmanual1 July 2020
Warning: Spoilers
The quality of this show has been amazing. The acting was so deep and realistic. The sadness of the prosecution, Marcia Clark and Chris Darden, and the Goldman family was heart-gripping. And yet the celebration of the defense and OJ Simpson wasn't brushed aside either, but it showed their true joy in winning. I have mixed feelings about the characters, especially in the defense, and that's the beauty of this show. Both sides got the chance to present their side as best they can during this series.

This show was an emotional roller-coaster. Just when things are going good for one side, it goes bad. Even with the acquittal, with OJ Simpson back at this house, everything is still not right for him.

The craziest thing about this show is that this all happened. They say reality is stranger than fiction, and this case shows that reality can make a better drama than fiction. I can't tell you the number of times something happened, especially with smaller details, and I had to look up did that really happen? And it did! The ability to keep to the facts is both a testament to the oddity of this case and the producers' film-writing skill.

Well Executed Ending
Samuel-Shovel29 September 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Well, we made it. The OJ Trial is in the books. The closing shot of OJ and his vacant stare is one of the most memorable shots this series offered us. Even though OJ is free, his life will never be the same.

Everyone watching this assuredly already knew the trial's outcome so it was wise of the show not to leave that as the big finale of the season. Instead, we get to see everyone's post-trial reactions which I thought was a nice touch.

This episode wasn't as great as the previous one but that's tough to replicate. A solid ending though to a solid season do television. I will definitely be tuning in for Season 2!

"Of those We created are a nation who guide by the truth, and by it act with justice."
hamidullahgenc4 January 2017
Warning: Spoilers
The season of O.J. Simpson has come to an end and we see that the director and the screenwriters could pull it off as it was not clear whether O.J. Simpson was to be found guilty or not, or would he get killed by a bitter person (I am careful not to to bring anyone under suspicion) or just kill himself until the last minute.

Our bravo to the technical committee!.. We won't be sure if O.J. was really guilty or not. But it was partly because of the chance the prosecution office by making Mark Fuhrman the key witness...

The system could not find him guilty for that...

If there was no witness nor any hard evidence, we 'd not point our fingers at the system as it 'd have perfectly followed the rope to the end, and only after that, we'd bend our head and bow to the inevitable...

The second party who can be held responsible for this unsatisfying situation is the very black community...

The ongoing cruelty that started in the 15th century by the exploitation of Africa and the slave trading, made /and still making the generations of "black human beings" sensitive to any matter which includes any black member of the community.

Hence, the black human beings, like many times before, took the side of O.J. Simpson despite all the hard evidence... Okay, the idea of defamation crossed our minds many times during the episodes... But hey, we still do not know if O.J. Simpson did it for sure.

We didn't read about all these on books. But Cuba Gooding Jr. played it so complicatedly and complexly that no one could tell what is what and who is who... He was so tense at first but later on got calmer... So it won't tell if we watch it over and over again. Sad. Sad. Sad...

(You are one of the best, Cuba Gooding Jr.! No, not because you played this perfectly. No, you are not even big in structure nor are you charming that well like O.J. Simpson is in real life. But you are a good actor beside this series!)

Kenneth Choi was like a real judge. Good for you, Mr. Choi!

Sarah Paulson, along with Courtney B. Vance, played really great throughout the season!.. Bravo!

David Schwimmer was our backup star, oh, he utilized all the opportunities!..

Sterling K. Brown was real professional. "Represent me, sir!"

John Travolta was, with his ups and downs, alright. No, he was better than alright. But his character was so annoying that we could not bear the sight of him! :D We want to see you more, Mr. Travolta!..

P.S.: The music was of good quality and put forward decently in all the episodes. Good! The camera almost never blocked nor interrupted the narration.

Visuals were really good.

It all made us feel like we are in the court. Keep it up, dear people!..

I give the 10th episode a "9,4" as I celebrate the series with 9 points.

I hope it gets better in the second season. Amen!

The Gracious Koran reminds us to be a good community behaving nicely towards each other. Let's see the 181th Verse of the 7th Chapter (called "The Heights") :

"Of those We created are a nation who guide by the truth, and by it act with justice."
