- Philip and Elizabeth feel the weight of a family secret while following up on the KGB's interests.
- Elizabeth brings Paige to Kenilworth and tells her that she and Philip were hard core civil rights activists when they were first married; she tells him their friend Gregory lived there and was murdered by police. Paige is very impressed and Philip is angry with Elizabeth. The new black FBI agent who always questions Stan (& who Stan dislikes) finds the bug in the pen Martha placed in Chief Gaad's office; Martha tries to deactivate her transmitter. OPR agent Walter Taffett comes in to investigate and sweep the department. Elizabeth, Philip, a highly valued South African black freedom fighter named Ncgobo and Hans get ready to execute a dangerous mission to grab the student and Venter, the one who was sent to stir up the anti-apartheid issue. Clark senses there is something "off" with Martha but he does not know what it is. The mission to grab Venter and student is successful; but the experience leaves the lookout, Hans, feeling like he stepped out of a dream choreographed by Fleetwood Mac.—LA-Lawyer
- Philip finds Paige reading in bed about the Civil Rights movement, and tells him that her mother told her about their work in the movement and their visit to Kenilworth -- the neighborhood where Gregory lived. She asks him why he doesn't still believe in that kind of change, and he says he does but he's grown older and realized that other things are more important -- and that there are other ways to make change. Philip comes to the bedroom and is upset about Elizabeth's "little field trip" with Paige. Elizabeth insists that she told him she was "moving forward" with Paige. Philip asks if this is how it's going to be, that he's going to "come home one day and Paige is going to tell me she knows who we really are?"
Elizabeth hesitates and says, "Honestly, I don't know."
Tension fills the air as Elizabeth and Philip share the bathroom in the morning. She tells him about an African National Congress guy named Ruben Nagobo who is coming in from Moscow, where he's training.
Stan and Agent Adderholt chat about Nina, with Stan speaking very officially about her and the intelligence she provided.
Hans and Elizabeth stake out Todd, the South African spy that Hans noticed, and they watch Nagobo meet with Todd. The plan is that Nagobo will meet with Todd again, and that Eugene Venter, a South African intelligence officer, will emerge to try to kill Nagobo. That's when the Soviets will grab Venter. She tells Hans he will be the lookout for police when this goes down.
Philip brings pizza home, but Paige isn't interested and Henry isn't around. We next see Stan and Philip eating the pizza. They confide in each other about work and home lives. Stan tells Philip he isn't a fan of Adderholt.
Elizabeth and Nagobo take a walk and get to know each other. Nagobo talks about his family and says his four boys "know not to ask" about what he does.
At FBI headquarters, Stan sees Adderholt in Gaad's office and pops in for a signature on a document. Gaad's pen dries up and when he shakes it, Adderholt suspects there's something in it. He pulls out the bug that Martha had planted for Philip. Martha notices this over her shoulder through the office window. Martha slips away into the restroom, pulls a recording device from her purse and starts to break it apart. She takes one pieces from inside, washes it with water, then wraps it in paper towel and sticks it back in her purse.
Martha is tense as an agent scans the entire workspace with a metal detector. He stops momentarily on her purse, then leaves. Gaad then introduces Martha to Walter Taffett from OPR and they go into a meeting room together. Taffett asks Martha for logs on all of Gaad's guests for the past three months. Taffett suspects everyone.
Philip and Elizabeth play the happy couple on a date with Lisa as their third wheel.
Martha gets home nervous and goes through some of "Clark's" drawers.
Philip and Elizabeth get home and he says he's going to go to Martha's. Elizabeth tells Philip about how Nagobo was saying he hopes his four boys become fighters like him, and this sets off another brief argument about what they should with Elizabeth.
Sandra drops Matt off at Stan's house and tells Stan she thinks it's time they "do something about" the fact that they're not officially divorced.
Philip gets to Martha's place and she says she left her purse at work. She asks to go to his apartment -- right away.
Stan starts to talk to Matt about his undercover work with Dave -- the agent who was killed -- and reveals that he had to pretend to be friends with bad people -- including a killer.
Philip takes Martha to an apartment, set up like a bachelor pad, but with framed photos of their wedding. Martha looks around quietly then starts asking questions about their future and whether they're ever going to live together like a normal married couple. Philip dodges the question, asking what is really normal. He can tell there's something wrong, but Martha won't say what. She wants to go home.
Philip gets into bed and Elizabeth wakes up, pulls his arm over her and says she should have told him about her talk with Paige. Philip's response to this is to reveal that he has a 20-year-old son who is in Afghanistan.
The next morning, after hustling the kids off to school Philip tells Elizabeth that "something is up" with Martha. He thinks it might be the foster kid talk.
Taffett ends up in the elevator with Martha and it's awkward.
Nagobo meets with Todd in a diner with Philip in disguise sitting nearby, Hans keeping watch and Elizabeth in a van outside. Soon enough, the plan goes into effect. Venter shows up, Philip leaves the diner to take him down and Elizabeth starts to bring the van around. Elizabeth shoots someone connected to Venter and speeds out to the front of the diner, where Philip is fighting to subdue Venter. She pulls up and he tosses Venter into the van, while Nagobo brings Todd out to the van and tosses him in next. They drive away.
