Series three is a very strong era in Father Brown's history, and The truth in the wine is one of the best.
It's a very serious story, lacking any sort of nonsense or silliness, it deals with some very serious topics. It boasts a brilliant storyline, with twists and red herrings, it has some really great characters, and of course features the usual glorious production values.
Sheila Reid switches her chair in Benidorm for a chair in Kembleford, and is excellent, as are Daniel Ryan and Emma Cunniffe.
It's a good old fashioned murder mystery, with plenty of suspects to keep you guessing.
Quirky episode, 9/10
