It was not the most interesting episode, but it holds the average of the season.

It wasn't a hugely memorable episode, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. Indeed, the story of Jake and Amy having to work together, and at the same time, deal with their life as a couple and work was rather pleasant to watch, and there were, as always, a few jokes to compensate for the slower moments.

Otherwise, the two secondary stories were also interesting. On the one hand, I liked seeing the more vulnerable side of Rosa, much when she takes care of her "little brother" in this episode, or when she adopts a puppy, later in the season. Finally, the story of Boyle and Holt was pleasant to watch, and rather funny.

In short, the episode does not particularly stand out from the others, apart from the story of Jake and Amy, but it maintains the average formula of the episodes of this season.

It was really weak episode. Previous one and this one are the worst of this season. It seems that they lost their high quality.

Forgettable Episode of The Comedy Powerhouse Warning: Spoilers
Brooklyn Nine-Nine is hands down one of the my favorite comedies of all time, but Season 3 has had a couple of blah episodes. The Mattress is essentially a rehash of the hilarious season 2 episode, Stakeout, but not nearly as funny. Except in this case it's not Jake and Boyle working on a case, but Jake and Amy. Captain Holt is skeptical when they want to work on a case together as they are a couple, but they decide to go with it and much like the much better Stakeout, Jake and Amy get into an argument causing the criminal to realize they're being watched thus ruining the case. It's not really awful or anything, just kind of boring, Amy also pesters Jake to get a new mattress throughout, and in the end he caves in. But, the biggest problem with this episode is how it ends as Jake and Amy are about to go catch the criminal as Jake is buying a mattress on his phone, but it ends there, we never get to see the great action scenes that Brooklyn is capable of, just disappointing. The B-plot along with the C-plot are dull. The B-plot consists of Bolyle hitting Holt's car and Holt getting furious with him. I'll admit there are a couple of funny scenes, but overall nothing special. Then there's the laugh-less C-Plot with Rosa and Terry where Terry doesn't want Rosa to discipline the kid she has in the Big Brother program. Overall, this is one of the few meh episodes of Brooklyn. There are a couple of gems scattered out like Jake saying how creative drug dealers have gotten with the names of drugs and the mattress montage, but really nothing special. I do not recommend it, unless you plan to watch all the episodes, I'd advise to watch the best better episode this one is trying to mimic which is Season 2 Episode 11 Stakeout, the B-plot and C-plot are actually funny, the Jake and Boyle A-plot that The Mattress is mimicking is way funnier, and it's just an A+ episode, so watch that not this.
