- Gil Pérez: There are two questions in this Ministry that no one has an answer for. One is Ernesto's origin.
- Alonso de Entrerríos: And the other?
- Gil Pérez: Why did Di Stéfano play for Real Madrid if he had signed for Barcelona?
- [Julián has just found himself forced to knock out a drunk Alonso with a tavern chair. A bunch of soldiers corner him]
- Soldier: You have attacked a Spanish soldier from behind. That is not fighting honorably.
- Julián Martínez: [holding up a bag of coins] I need two men to help me carry him to his ship.
- [Julián drops the bag of coins and watches as the soldiers brawl for it. Turns to Amelia, who is standing there with him]
- Julián Martínez: This is Spain, you see? So much talk about honor, but if there's money involved...
- Gil Pérez: But we must hurry. The Armada starts sailing tomorrow at dawn.
- Julián Martínez: Tomorrow? And couldn't you have told us earlier?
- Gil Pérez: I have just learned it myself. The crew lists arrive at the last minute, right on time to supply the ships. I don't even know which ship is Lope in; I only know he is not in the San Juan. Besides, what kind of Spaniards would we be if we could not get the job done at the last minute?
- Julián Martínez: If I have learnt something from a couple time travels is that women have evolved, but men still want basically the same, whether their name is Lope de Vega or Paco Domínguez.
- Amelia Folch: Who is Paco Domínguez?
- Julián Martínez: A classmate of mine in high school, who got all the girls. He was my hero, actually.
