Sam's in the line of fire.

Has Sam slept with a killer, or was he an innocent man victimised by The Police?

I have really enjoyed this story, it was definitely entertaining and absorbing, nice to see Sam on the back foot for a change, being the hunted rather than the hunter. Some very fine scenes, but it all came down to that tense and dramatic ending. It was a shame that this series was short, I think it was very good overall and way better than the previous.

Jack Dee was excellent as Chris, his dead pan face and demeanor worked incredibly well in this story.

Very good. 8/10

Lonely or Victimized by Writers

This episode pushes Sam right out character. Her zealousness in attempting to find the identity of victim #10 is right on. In a matter of moments, she finds the man who is eventually proved innocent to be so attractive she hops into bed with him. Meanwhile, a cop who has been in love with her is watching on the sidelines. Every series has a clinker and I believe this is one of them.

Always a Twist

Warning: Spoilers
I'm new to this series and I've admired Sam in the previous three series. Yes, it is 1999 but AIDS is still prevalent. Why would Sam have sex with a man just released from prison? What point is she trying to prove? Does she want him to feel attractive, desirable? Is she smarter than the police in searching out the real killer? Is she trying to prove she doesn't need Connor's protection? Sam's "I Am Woman" attitude got very old in these episodes. She's definitely smart, but not very wise and they are two very different things. I did like her dig at Connor for being married but attracted to her. Again, Sam's not stupid, but still...
