A better work than Nos seins, nos armes
ersbel19 April 2015
This documentary is better worked than Nadia El Fani's Nos seins, nos armes, but it is still slow. Slow for a dynamic movement. Way to slow. With excess static cuts.

Joseph Paris wants to make a personal trip, a revealing trip. Yet the final product says nothing about his discoveries. Naked War gives a stale taste at the end. The film feels like someone who felt sorry for wasting a year. The ends do not meet. But that someone has to bring out something one can sell. There is no trend: where do they come from, where do they go to? Yet, this is quite long for a snapshot. What is shown as a personal trip ends up very impersonal.

And all this comes in contrast with what Femen stands for. Femen has the courage to go forward knowing they are going to be beaten and insulted. Joseph Paris barely has the guts to show a couple of out of focus faces for the brutes hitting. There is no trace of context. The outside world is two people talking in empty rooms.

I am sad for these second rate film makers getting involved with Femen and their fight. I hope "there is no such thing as bad publicity" holds for these women.
