Alan Arkin: Live from the TCM Classic Film Festival (2015)

*** (out of 4)

Host Robert Osbourne sat down with Alan Arkin at the TCM Film Festival and this 50 minute interview features quite a few highlights from the actor's career. The films discussed include: LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE, INSPECTOR CLOUSEAU, POPI, EDWARD SCISSORHANDS, THE ROCKETEER, THE HEART IS A LONELY PLACE, CATCH-22 and GLENGARRY GLEN ROSS.

Overall this is a fine and fun interview with Arkin who gets to talk about quite a few of his films but for the most part this interview really isn't about him talking about co-stars or various production notes. This interview is more like him talking about his original dreams of becoming an actor and how it played out over the period of his career. It's certainly a fascinating interview where Arkin shares some personal stories about some low periods in his life and why he went from film to stage so many times. Fans of the actor will enjoy this.
