During the first day of shooting, Sean McGann's tripod broke before shooting the Hiroshima scenes. He had to stand the camera up on a nearby fire hydrant to get stationary shots made. A few days later, he bought a new tripod from RadioShack to film the green-screen shots. Unfortunately, when setting this new tripod up, it fell apart in nearly the exact same way as the previous tripod (a leg falling off). McGann had to resort to stacking ten to fifteen books on a hamper in order to film scenes of him climbing the monolith, and using a shortened tripod on a TV tray to film his scenes as the villain, Monolith.
El conejo blanco confronts the mugger wearing a cowboy hat by saying, "Let the man go, Hopalong." While this is a reference to the western character, Hopalong Cassidy, it is also a reference to "Caustic Midwestern Cowboy," a failed pilot for a review series starring Sean McGann in the title role as a cowboy from the Midwest who reviews western films. The one episode released had the character review Lumberjack (1944), a Hopalong Cassidy film. The mugger in this short film is even wearing Caustic Midwestern Cowboy's hat.
Monolith mocks El conejo blanco (The White Rabbit) by calling him "bunny mustard." Bunnymustard is a YouTuber who is best known for, like Sean McGann under the moniker of "SpaghettiBicycle," making YouTube Poops.
Sean McGann announced that he would be writing stories based on the character of El conejo blanco on Wattpad four days after the release of this short film.
