Finally Liz gets some depth and at the same time it opened up new possibilities as Liz is now on the other side of the wanted poster, I look forward to see where her character goes. This is the kind of season finale I hope to see in other shows, As it was exactly how it should be, As it brought closure to some lingering questions that we've had since season one and at the same time raised some new ones, Like how will Liz get her name cleared, Is it even possible After what she did? I actually think that Megan Boone is more suited to a darker character.

I want to mention J.Spader's outstanding performance, Not just for the season finale, But overall, As he raises the show to a whole new level.

Jon Bokenkamp should be very pleased with his series...

Warning: Spoilers
Every now and then a show comes along which exceeds even the expectations of the fans. I have always (see prior reviews) felt that Blacklist was such a series.

However, going into Season 2 the constant teaser re the relationship between Liz and Red was becoming .... annoying? The long arc and the short arc were starting to chafe a bit, one against the other. Like when you wear jeans a size small.

In this excellent closer to Season 2, writer/creator Jon Bokenkamp personally took over the story arc and even went so far as to borrow a page from the "JJ Abrams Handbook of TV Scripting" ... namely, when in doubt, burn the main story arc to the ground and start over. (Which is why Season 3 will offer a completely different dynamic...) The production values are stellar, crediting not merely Bokenkamp and Spader (never less than wonderful) but the whole cast digs deep and keeps the viewer enthralled from top to bottom.

Great TV.

Spoiler alert ahead

Warning: Spoilers
I absolutely love this show. I have been on the edge of my seat since the first episode. It is never a let down. I have gone back and forth about whether or not I thought that "Red" was Liz's father. I came to the conclusion that he was not in season one when she asked him. But others still wondered. After watching season 2, I now have to wonder how "Red" became Liz's "sin eater". I have a feeling it has something to do with her mother being a double agent. I actually think that Reddington is a good guy that is trying to set the world and mostly the US straight. And most of all get rid of the Cabal. I think he, of course, has his own motives behind his escapades. But we will have to see. Bring on Season 3!!! Note: This was required to be at least 10 lines. I only wanted to add that since it took me forever to figure out what was said, at the end of season 2, Liz says, "You are my sin eater."

Great final episode for the second season. Liz has been framed but the resolution must wait. The smug AG, Tom Connolly, decides that he can say or do anything. He is really despicable and she, unfortunately, loses patience. I wish the principles hadn't confronted him head on because it would have been wiser to work from the periphery. Some questions now. What will happen to Liz? What will Red do to solve the problem and exonerate his friends? Where is Tom off to and what is he up to? Will there be a kind of superforce working to bring a calm to the storm? I was ready to shelve this because Liz put her childhood experience ahead of the dangers to the world. But there's more, now that she knows the truth. Excellent.

All great except for one thing - "SIMPSONS DID IT!"
richard_bownes-9961319 August 2016
Warning: Spoilers
Apart from that, the episode is fantastic. It continued the trend of leaving more questions than answers, all the characters were great. tom Connolly continues to remind me of Dick Jones and the end of his storyline was perfect(except for the reveal about Liz) and it will be interesting to see where Season 3 goes. Better than the previous finale and continues to keep the show as one of the best on TV

So here are the spoilers . . . . . . . Smithers runs into the room, shouts "MAGGIE SHOT MR. BURNS AGAIN!" and everyone looks at the camera and groans. Which is what I did.

THAT is how stupid Liz's big reveal is. It was bad enough that she turned out to be Russian in a twist that made no sense to anyone.

"You Were Right" - "I Need Your Help"
noonieblount29 August 2022
Oh my Lord how many times are the writers going to have Agent Keen say the following lines; "Raymond, you were right." Or "Raymond, I need your help." It's getting utterly ridiculous and it's like a yo-yo all of season 2. Either have her finally trust Reddington or not trust him. These lines that are spoken take away so much of the storyline and it's irritating. It only reminds me of why I stopped looking at this show when it previously aired. Hopefully, season 3 will prove to have better writing when it comes to the character Agent Elizabeth Keen. While Red is focused on Elizabeth she's focused on finding out what happened to her mother and father and placing everyone around her in danger. The storylines to what transpired with Agent Cooper and his doctor, Agent Cooper and the director, Agent Cooper and Ressler, was well written.

Episode was fine my least favorite of the finales.
lukebernstein34 December 2019
I don't know why this is episode is rated so highly. The best part of this episode is at the end when red and Liz meet up at the bench. This is a finale that focuses way to much on Liz and not enough of red. And why could they not have written more for James spader? This was a season finale. Compared to Berlin this doesn't leave a lasting impression as a finale. It does how ever lead into season 3 which is the best season. I don't understand why the writers chose to keep red out of a lot of the episode especially the climax with Tom Connelly. In Berlin is was the axact opposite. Red was front and center most of the episode especially once the fake Berlin is located. Season finale should have a lot of focus on Red. That's a rule I have for rating finales and also preimieres and also mid season finakes. And this season 2 finale falls short in the Red department. I didn't mind that it was red and Cooper confronting Connelly. But this is a season finale. red should have been there to.

Incredible Reveals That Were Implicitly Obvious!
frankelee3 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I know the writers' room for The Blacklist didn't contain any biologists, but I do kind of wonder if that played into how ignorant they make every character. Liz is like a Ph. D. I think, and it takes her how long to realize that the plot was to infect her with the virus so in the course of saving the Senator she'd infect him? Like, seriously a 5 year-old would have been yelling at the screen for the first half of this episode, it's that simple a mystery.

Liz actually demands her blood sample's chain of evidence, like she's thinking she isn't the one infected, or that her being infected shows her guilt somehow. She's literally dumb. It's a virus spread by touch and the Cabal can do anything, in a world where you brush pass somebody and can steal their wallet, badge, weapon, literally anybody swipes hands on the street and she's infected. And she's too dumb to comprehend it... and they try to make a big deal of the Union Station event! And he uses some dry ice inhaler thing to shove up her nose and give her the virus. She just killed somebody by touching them!

And then when they confront Connolly, he's all like "I am the Senate!" and says no government organization will look into their evidence, nor will any judge consider it, but of course it could just be on NBC, ABC, CBS, and Fox that night. What would they do then? And of course any of them could have recorded Connolly or the CIA Director for that matter because they discuss their crimes constantly.

It was all quite funny, typical for this show, just especially silly because they had so much "plot" to get through. Also Ressler is like, "I'll hunt you down," but he's just an agent, he wouldn't get to decide to what cases he gets to do, or the right to repurpose the task force, and they never show he gets permission for that, he just decides. Which also made me laugh.
