Decent but perhaps too many lobster shots...

I love the old "Undersea World of Jacques Cousteau" episodes and fortunately you can find them on YouTube. I would still recommend you see them on DVD or BluRay if you can, as the resolution is only fair on these YouTube shows. This is not true for everything on YouTube...but it is for these.

Of all the subjects I've seen on these shows, the Spiny Lobsters are among my favorites because I have seen them dozens of times when I've been scuba diving. I love to touch them and watch them rapidly swim away and they are surprisingly common in the Caribbean. But one thing I never knew about them was that each year they all begin a weird migration when the first winter storm approaches...and they march, en masse, single-file for many, many miles! The Calypso crew head to the Yucatan region to track this migration. While the episode doesn't provide lots of answers to why and where they go, it IS interesting. However, about all you see are the lobsters and the normally super-abundant fish are not seen with any abundance. Worth seeing but I wonder if showing more of the fish might have made the show more exciting. The waters in the Yucatan they showed did not have the diversity or color I'm used to seeing in the Bahamas or Keys where the Spiny Lobsters also congregate.
