Season 5 didn't suck. The reviews confused me.
christianomari13 October 2019
I literally was going to skip season 5 because I heard it was so bad. I think all the critics had lunch together and decided to write the same review. I'm glad I didn't skip it. I thought it was interesting and funny.

The Fallout
lassegalsgaard10 August 2022
And with one final episode, "Arrested Development" has now ended its run for a second time. This time it wasn't abruptly canceled, but given the chance to live once again by Netflix, which brought the show back with a fourth season that I believe to be a success. However, that hasn't necessarily been the case throughout the fifth season, as this has been more clunky than usual, switching between clever humor and annoying gags. They've now reached the ending and finished off on a note. Luckily, this was a fine one; not great, but definitely not as bad and unfunny as it could have been.

The Bluths have never had a time in their life where things were as tense as in this final hour (yes, an hour!!) of "Arrested Development." Yet, they've also not had an easier time getting out of trouble. A lot of storylines had been set up to give the narrative for this season, with the disappearance of Lucille-2 being the big one. Buster was on trial for her murder, and after changing the actual murder suspect 100 times throughout the episode, that storyline was just kind of abandoned without a real conclusion to it. It's the second part of the episode that really manages to bring out the fun of this show, as the whole border subplot comes to a rather dramatic ending, that leads to a satisfying conclusion for Michael and his son. These are characters that we have rooted for throughout the entire show, and it only seemed fair that they would be the ones to prosper from everything. Gob is still paranoid about possibly being gay, and we finally get an ending to the long-standing question of where Lindsay have been... Granted, an ending that doesn't really clarify anything, other than the fact that Portia de Rossi had quit acting. However, it adds to the surrealness of this show in a kinda fun way and leaves things as scrambled as they've always been for the family, which is how we like them best. This final season certainly hasn't been the greatest, but it managed to close out the show on a satisfying note.

"The Fallout" leaves the door open for a possible return, but works as an end to a show that already had one, but was saved. It features a happy ending for Michael, but another messy situation for the rest of the family, which feels a little inconclusive, yet weirdly satisfying when you think about it.

If there is a season 6, writers should follow the Next.
ahmedgorshy25 June 2020
If there is a season 6 the writers must fund the Next. 1. That there is no time difference of more than one or two years for the next season, if there is one. 2.To get rid of wall ideas and block you. 3. To be shorter, simpler and revert to its old origins. This series is very great and I love it. I want to watch 100 seasons of it. I don't mind people who did not like this season. I don't know you might have ruled quickly.

Brilliant

As we all know, arrested development has had its ups and downs, and I was worried that a season 5 would permanently ruin the show (more than season 4 did) but I was suprised to see that season 5 was actually good! It was quite odd to split up the season by like 10 months but it's all here and it's hilarious, especially the last few episodes. No it isn't as good as season 1 2 or 3 but it is still funny. I was constantly on edge while watching the last couple episodes and enjoyed every bit of the finale. I do hope for a season 6 or movie even though most would say it's unlikley. So if not. Thank you to all the cast and writers. 10/10

Upon a second watch...
gj-y0516 July 2020
I'll be honest, when i first watched season 4, i DESPISED it! but upon a second watch, there was A LOT of things i missed and it genuinely wasnt that bad of a season, it had a couple of episodes that could've even fit in with seasons 1-3 for god sake! While season 5 had some bad episodes and the flashbacks were extraordinarily annoying, id say it was on around the same level as season 4

I'm still laughing
jeanieknos22 March 2019
Arrested development has always been able to make me laugh and I can watch again and again, spot something obscure or subtle and boom it's even funnier. This season was brilliant, the cast truly outdone themselves. I'd be very sad to see this be the end (again) but if it is, bravo!

As good as the old times!

Warning: Spoilers
This episode really reminded me how this show made me a #1 fan of comedy TV. Arrested Development is BACK, the episode is hilarious and smart at the 100%, Ben Stiller is back, every missed character is back! Bateman, Arnett & Cera were great. And one of the best characters of TV, Tobias is the heart of the show. And well, we finally know that Lucille 2 is DEAD, and yes, it was Buster. WE NEED SEASON 6, PLEASE NETFLIX PLEASE

10 Stars for Tony Hale
srhand-817362 January 2022
I really hope this is not the end of Arrested Development!! The characters have so much growth potential. Mostly Tony Hale deserves like 5 Emmys for this season.

A confusing nonsensical mess
martalapsus6 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This season finale is an absolute shipwreck. Nothing in it makes sense. The screenplay is an abomination. The show stopped making people laugh a long time ago, but now also stops to have any kind of sense. Confused, unnecessarily convoluted, full of voids in the plot: it was painful and stressful to watch. I'm horrified.

The Worst Thing to Happen to Arrested Development
stormypewpew20 October 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This is by far the worst episode in the entire show. And we all know how season 4 and 5 were. They turned Buster into a cold blooded killer, like what the hell?! He was the best character in that entire show known for his kindness and honestly. The writers really messed up on this one. I wish I could give it a 0/10.

The Fallout
bobcobb30120 June 2019
Warning: Spoilers
They went for some elaborate display in that final scene, but it just wasn't funny. With the possibility of this being the last episode ever it was really disheartening.

Hopefully if there is another season they reboot and move away from Fake Block and "the wall".
