Now, audiences will get a chance to experience this stark and heartfelt portrait of struggling families, mental illness, and isolation for themselves, when Dead Dogs makes it released to the public through Vimeo On Demand on February 25th. Since debuting at last year’s IndieCork Film Festival, the no budget, Cork shot drama Dead Dogs has hit quite a milestone during its festival run, picking up the award for Best Drama Feature at this weekend’s Fort Worth Indie Film Showcase in Fort Worth, Texas, an event aimed at bringing attention to the quality work produced by the independent film movement. A stark and heartfelt portrayal of mental illness, struggling families, and isolation, Dead Dogs was shot in and around Cork City with a wealth of local talent in front and behind the camera, with a number of the crew, including director Ian Ruby and Dop Robert O’Halloran, being graduates of St. John’s Central College Film Production course. Directed by St. John’s Central College graduate Ian Ruby, Dead Dogs is a stark and heartfelt portray of mental illness, strugglingly families, and isolation, and was shot in around the city on no budget, with a wealth of local talent in front of and behind the camera. This is a tremendous achievement for all those involved, and well done to all those involved.
