This installment has a shorter running time than usual. When compared to the Story Reel version (consisting of unfinished animation) released online in 2015, a sequence was cut in which Anakin attempted to stall the Seperatists by contacting Wat Tambor using a communicator screen. The two of them had a discussion about the Techno Union's neutrality in the Clone Wars (the 'Jedi original fortune cookie' read "In war there is no such thing as neutrality.") and Tambor gave a demonstration of the Decimator droid by having it torture a Poletec native.
The 'Jedi fortune cookie' message that opens the show reads "Survival is one step on the path to living."
This story arc and this episode in particular bears many similarities to the Star Trek: The Next Generation double episode, The Best Of Both Worlds in which the Enterprise crew attempt to rescue their Captain, Jean Luc Picard, who is wired in to the Borg species central brain.
