"Hidden Wrath" is a tale of wanton cruelty and revenge set in rural Thailand. Our hero and his girlfriend eke out an existence fishing. She is dumb, as in cannot talk, and his family don't want him to marry a mute on the dubious premise that a woman who talks too much is preferable to one who doesn't talk at all.
There has to be a bad guy of course, in fact there are three of them led by the evil Chang. The trio murder the pair, Chang making sure to rape her first. They are then buried in the woods. As this horrible deed takes place half hour into the film, the only question now is: detective story/avenger or supernatural angle? The answer comes in short order as the weakest of the three begins having nightmares and begins seeing things. All plain sailing so far, but the resolution is too silly to mention. Leaving that aside, Western film-makers were doing this sort of thing half a century ago, and Thailand is hardly a Third World banana republic.
