- Unreliable Alcoholic Son of a Chicago Crime Boss finds knowledge and faith from a young daughter of a Rehab Owner. It's "One Flew Over a Coo Coo's Nest meets the Professional".
- Aging career mobster, Dino De Martino, son of mafia Don, Gino De Martino, has never known any other way. He was born the son of the leader of Chicagos Outfit and has lived by their rules his entire life. Its been a hard one. Growing up with a father in such a position of power, Dino didn't have the bond most sons have with their Dads. Their father/son interactions were always interrupted by business. Although Dino never let on, he resented not having a regular father.
When other boys were studying for their college preparatory exams, Dino was extorting shop owners, hanging out in strip clubs, and disciplining underlings. He was totally immersed in "the life" and had no room for anything else. In recent years, drugs and alcohol had become his comfort.
Addiction was commonplace in his world, but there was no such thing as rehab--a single bullet was the treatment for someone who had gotten out of hand. Dinos case was different. What to do with the son of the man who runs the Chicago Outfit? His fathers decree was, Deal with it, but let no harm come to my son. And so it was...That is, until Dinos final screw up results in the death of his lifelong best friend and partner.
When Dino enters court ordered rehab, he makes an unlikely connection with the Proprietor's teen daughter, Ruby Carter. She is shy, principled, a bit nerdish, and wise beyond her years. She carries a great sense of responsibility having been raised alone by her father-the facility resident psychologist and owner. She is the antithesis of Dino, who is rude, domineering, and often childish.
Throughout the film, Ruby attempts to teach Dino about God, responsibility, and accountability; but when the Sawyer State Rehab Facility falls victim to governmental budget cuts, Dino takes matters into his own hands.
Smart and sophisticated, this film combines moral themes, action, and comedy in a realistic way that walks the fine line between faith, flaws, and everything in between. "Dino" is "The Professional" meets "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest"
