Inept misogyny exercise, mean-spirited
There's no shortage of bad ideas in porn, but this Tricky Spa series video is an example of one of the worst. Bree Mills as producer has concocted a formula for off-putting anti-entertainment that is boring to boot.
Most in-your-face audience insults are justified as rebellious or anti-establishment, as in the militant lesbian cinema of Madison Young and Lily Cade. But Bree's reveling in misogyny is a bit perplexing -does she really hate women (doubtful) or is she attacking her customers for supposedly "demanding" this woman- demeaning junk?
It is that circular argument that continues to upset me, whether delving into the equally cryptic (to an outsider) world of bondage/fetish videos or the demented "Cuckold" sub-genre.
Here we have a simple but untenable premise: Masseurs who prey on gullible women, playing mind games on them with their patter while applying oil, and somehow blackmailing them into giving a blow job against their will. That is the entire content of each vignette, and having seen 8 segments so far (compiled into two Gamma Ent. video releases) I can report on the tedium component -each scene is slavishly staged identically to the others. The masseur adjusts a CCTV camera set-up and does his routine, almost ritualistically. No creativity or variation is included.
Star Ava Addams was the reason I watched this particular one, and even she is unarousing for a change. Eric Masterson offers to have a buddy help her out financially and she scrunches up her face ("is it over yet?") while being forced to blow him, in a thoroughly unconvincing display. He gloats to her about having recorded the sex for his personal collection after delivering his money shot on her breasts. The object is humiliation pure and simple.
Three younger girls suffer the same fate at the behest of Steven St. Croix, Ryan McLane and Jack Vegas. One of them, Harley Ace, is strictly cast in bondage videos other than this assignment.
The viewer is assumed to be a pervert, meant to enjoy this display of humiliation and domination of hapless women. There is a stupid, transparent inversion: instead of identifying with the victim, we are meant to be the sadistic protagonist and enjoy his "outwitting" some dumb broad. Sort of like watching "Criminal Minds" on TV and rooting for the nut-cases.
For pornographers like Bree, this is seemingly an act of defiance, meant to belong to the tradition of '60s soft-core pornography where guys like Friedman and Frost defiantly manhandled female characters to delight the "pervs" in the audience, as they so cutely referred to their customers. It is sort of the opposite effect of those interesting episodes of the original "Mission: Impossible" TV series, where our team would go to great lengths to bamboozle the bad guys and have them succumb to one "sting" ruse or another. In exploitation cinema rooting for the bad hat is standard procedure.
For this genre to actually work, it would take creative writing to concoct schemes that were interesting. Instead we have silly, or ridiculous reasons for the girl to give up and participate in the forced sex, so the whole thing falls apart. Good luck to Bree & company if they think this junk will attract a following.
