A really classy mystery for Vera.

This sixth series has been utterly fantastic, it comes as no surprise to me that the show is doing so well in terms of viewing figures, people are definitely tuning in.

Noof McEwan did a cracking job in the role as new DC Cherradi, I think he'll be a great addition.

Just another wonderful, stylish murder mystery, gloriously produced and acted, great job all round. Tanya Franks and Jack Ellis in particular were very good. It's nice to see that Vera has softened a little bit as time has gone on too. She used to be a bit prickly, now we're seeing a different side to her character.

Brilliant once again, 9/10

Good episode ruined by sloppy/silly climax.

Warning: Spoilers
At the beginning of Season 6 Vera loses a DS (Bethany) to a gun shot... so what does she do at the end of this episode?

She drives to interrogate the chief suspect (who has a long gun) without backup (who are racing to get there)!

There was no urgency. The suspect was not a flight risk.

I guess the murder of an officer under her command was no longer top of mind? Where is the senior command structure to reel in this reckless and totally unnecessary risk-taking? Are her subordinates too scared to call her out on it?

This episode yet again makes jokes about unhealthy views of childbirth. Mentions of drug use while birthing and abusive birthing practices. This episode is just another in a line of episodes that have a very backward view of childbirth. Would not recommend ant pregnant woman watching this episode as these comments can create poor images of natural birth. I encourage more writers to step outside their programming and actually learn about real birth before placing derogatory statements in their episodes. Dissapointing to see such a good show succumbing to the same misinformation as other worse shows. Childbirth is not scary and is completely natural.
