I think this is an underrated episode, the flashbacks really impacted me and changed how I feel about Malick, which to me is what flashbacks should accomplish, watching the last scene with Malick breaks my heart, I think it speaks to the religious part of me to see someone who just lost the faith he had all his life, it's a scary thing! and Powers Boothe (may he rest in peace) gave a powerful performance, just wow!
It wasn't only Malick's side that I liked, the May vs Giyera fight was as epic as you'd expect, Giyera was kinda the MVP of the episode if I'm honest, but also we got the introduction to James, who is super delightful! The stuff with the team and Coulson coming to terms with Zombie Ward coming back was also good, the one thing that didn't work for me was Lincoln's "Dark past" it ended up being lame.
The episode ends on a great cliffhanger and leads to possibly the best episode of the season (17) so the hype is real!
