Most of the names on the arrivals/departures board are the names of real ghost towns or in some way connected to ghost towns. Boneville is the name of a ghost town attraction (formerly named Ghost Town) on the Cedar Point & Lake Erie Railroad. Harappa is the name of an archeological site in Punjab, Pakistan, and also the name of the nearest village, which was once larger. Red Oak is the name of both a ghost town in Missouri and a nearby "ghost town" named Red Oak II created from parts of the original Red Oak and preserved buildings from other ghost towns, by an artist who grew up in the original town; Red Oak is also the name of a musical group that produced a song called "Ghost Town." The ones officially designated ghost towns/cities or former settlements are: Bodie (Mono County, California, most famously, and Washington); Pripyat (Ukraine, one of the cities built for support of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant); Bannack (Beaverhead County, Montana); Canaan (Colusa County, California, listed as a "former settlement"); Garnet (Granite County, Montana; populated); Red Bird (Wagoner County, Oklahoma; populated); Springville (Clark County, Indiana); Trenton (Lander County, Nevada, and Blackford County, Indiana; latter is populated); Anderson (Macoupin County, Illinois) [towns can be classified as ghost towns and still be populated, if the population does not fill the buildings]. Skido may be meant to be Skidoo (Inyo County, California); King Springs may be meant to be Hot Springs in King County, Washington; and Hollantine may have been the name of an Irish town once upon a time, based on a few literary references. Batten, Cannon Creek, Bay Burry, and Deer Ridge were likely created for the show.
