Sidney has hit the booze, neglected his parish duties, even tries it on with the barmaid. He has been affected by Gary's execution and turmoil in his personal life including his strained friendship with Geordie.
Sam Milburn who got Abigail Redmond pregnant returns to ask Sidney for forgiveness. Abigail's father threatens to kill Milburn and soon Milburn disappears. Sidney goes to Geordie for help and they find out that he was grooming another under aged girl.
Leonard meanwhile finds disappointment in his own personal life. If someone is going to be left forlorn, make sure it is the gay guy. However he does find out that the Archdeacon knew that Milburn preyed on young girls and covered it up. The Archdeacon is left in a precarious position.
Pregnant Amanda leaves her husband and risks being disowned by her father as she flees to Sidney.
